Adventure in the Land of Monsters Part 22 & 23
Part 22

“Stay away from me!” Chikaru shouted. Shaun took up his bloody knife and kept making his way towards Chikaru. Chikaru couldn’t get free. Fear was consuming her heart. Candy flew down in front of the werewolf’s den. She could hear Chikaru’s screams for miles.
“Hold it.” The werewolves stopped and looked to the front of the cavern. “I do believe you have something the vampires want.”
“Well, Mistress Candy. What a pleasure for the daughter of a vampire count to be here in my humble abode.” Chimaru said.
“Our girl we captured is not cooperating with us.” Candy hissed.
“That’s not our problem.” a bandit said.
“Shut your mouth or I’ll bite that neck of yours in half.” The bandit quickly backed away. “Now, for some reason she cares for her friend you’ve got tied up over there. Give her to me so we may get the powers out of our girl. Give us Chikaru.”
“And why would we give you this witch because your witch ain’t working.” Shaun said picking up Chikaru by her neck.
“If you do not cooperate with us no werewolves will touch you. And if that doesn’t matter to you, I have legions of vampires who will be more than happy to tear you half-breeds apart.”
“Fine... Shaun, toss the girl to Mistress Candy. No need for us to waste anymore time as long as we get to transform her later.” Chimaru said. Shaun tightly snatched Chikaru around her throat and threw her to Candy’s feet. Chimaru waved his hand ever so slightly and said, “Go ahead and leave now, if you couldn’t tell we’re eating.”
Candy grabbed the ropes that bound Chikaru together and flew her quickly out of the cave. “Where are you taking me?” Chikaru asked struggling.
“Simple mortal, I’m taking you to my father’s castle and we are going to make sure Sandina does as we require. Although my father was slaughtered by my uncle I’m sure he wouldn’t mind having some leverage over the girl.”
“Sandina wouldn’t do anything to jeopardize the human race even if it meant both of our lives and I agree with her. I would rather die!”
“That can be arranged. If Sandina does not do as required we will kill you before her eyes. We will see how strong she is then.”
“You blood sucking witch!”
“Thank you. That’s so sweet.” Candy hissed with delight. “Now it’s time for you to go to sleep.” Chikaru turned her gaze away so not to fall under Candy’s hypnotic stare, but that would not stop Candy’s captivating lullaby. Chikaru was soon fast asleep to Candy’s enchanting voice.
“This is a nightmare.” Sandina thought as she dodged werewolf attacks. “Wait, if I just let them kill me then there is no problem.” Sandina suddenly remembered what Von said.
(“I could kill you now. I do not mind waiting another few years. After all, I have an eternity!”)
“No I got to stay alive so I can kill Von and destroy that machine and all traces of it. It’s the only way to save mankind!” Sandina’s fists began to spark a tremendous amount of lightning. Her body transformed into her deadly vampire form. The werewolves attacked with everything they had, but she was too fast. She slaughtered them with her lightning blades. Their blood spattered on her clothes and their gasping final breaths turned Sandina back into a human. She fell to the ground exhausted. “Only… a few… more hours… till sunrise.” Sandina gasped. Her lightning blades disappeared from her hands and she lied back against a fallen old oak tree. Slowly Sandina’s vision was fading. Her energy couldn’t withstand anymore. She passed-out leaning against the fallen old oak tree.
Keto soared around in the sky searching for her. He sent his bats through the forest. Soon he became frustrated that neither he nor his bats could find her. Keto landed on a nearby cliff edge and looked across the land. “There is no sign of her. How was she able to vanish so well?” A small bat, wounded by Sandina’s lightning blades, barely made it to the cliff’s edge. Keto stuck his hand out and it squeaked and squealed about Sandina’s location. “Very well done my pet, but you are no use to me anymore, not in your condition.” Keto dropped the little black bat, and it tumbled down the rocky cliff edges into the darkness of the forest. “She’s probably way too weak to battle me off now.” Keto flew down the cliff and over the tree to where the little bat said she would be. He landed in front of her only five feet away. When he saw the blood dripping down her face and her body so badly bruised he suddenly became compassionate and very loving towards her. Slowly Keto walked towards her and held her ever so gently in his arms. He laid her head on his lap and softly brushed the blood from her cheek. “My poor little lover; I was so consumed by what Von said I almost forgot that you are not a thing, but a person.” Keto carefully picked up Sandina in his arms and flew her to a nearby cavern where the traveling vampire would go to rest. He lied gently on top of the bear skins and got some warm water in a clay bowl and a wet cloth to clean the blood from her face, arms and legs. He stayed with her. Not knowing whether to let her go or to take her back to the vampire’s castle.

Part 23

Candy pushed Chikaru into a cell and slammed the door behind them. Chikaru uneasily turned to face Candy. “Now listen up my little morsel, Sandina has gone off and my brother is going to find her. Once he does bring her back I will place you before her on our human sacrifice table.”
“Do what you will to me, but here’s no way we would help you! We will kill you all for we are DEMON HUNTRESSES!”
Candy opened the door and looked over her shoulder to Chikaru. “Let’s see how confident you are when your beating heart is being cut out.” Candy shut the door behind her and slammed the deadbolt shut.
“I don’t like the looks of this. But Sandina has to stay out of their grasp. For now I can do my part and destroy the machine. This is weirdest plan Sandina has ever had.” Chikaru leaned back against the brick wall and thought about what Sandina had told her before.
(“Listen Chikaru, you and I both know the vampires will not give up until they got me. I heard from one of the trolls that we talked to that the vampires have built a strange machine. What we need to do is find the machine, whatever it is and destroy all traces of it. No matter what.”
“I know Sandina, but what about Kitko? Should we let her in on this or leave her in the dark?”
“Leave her in the dark for now. If she knew what we we’re planning she would find a way to stop us. She worries about us ya know? Let’s make a vow right now that no matter what happens we will complete our mission.”
“Promise.” Chikaru and Sandina locked arms and shook hands.)
“It seems like such a long time ago when we made that pact. Sadly it’s only been a few days. Time goes so slow when you’re a prisoner.” Chikaru sighed and looked around for an escape. She found a window that was twenty feet above her head. “I can reach that.” Chikaru walked to the door and then raced up the wall. She barely grabbed the steel bars, but she managed to pull herself up. She focused all reaming fire power she had into her hands and made the bars warm enough to bend so she could get free. She slipped out the window and it was a sheer drop to the tiny river below. “Wow… I didn’t think I was this high up.” Chikaru looked up and saw a rooftop she could jump to. She jumped and climbed up to the top of the room’s roof. Vampires were everywhere. She knew that she was no good to the mission if got captured again. Chikaru found a small entrance in the tower where Nichu slept and she quietly snuck in.
Kana opened the door to Nichu’s room and Chikaru was so happy to see her. “Kana Sensei!” Chikaru was thrilled. “I thought you were dead. I’m so happy to see you.”
“But you’re right Chikaru. I am dead. And I’ve never felt so alive.” Kana smirked with evil delight. Chikaru saw Kana’s fangs and jumped back.
“Y-you’re a v-vampire.” Chikaru said in shocked.
“Correct. I have no idea why I did not do this sooner. Candy did me the honor of feeding on my neck. It’s funny. You have the same startled look Sandina had on her face when she saw me being fed on. My luscious lover Nichu is coming up here soon to finish what we started. I could have him bite you too. It’s much easier this way than living as a mere mortal.”
“You idiot! He brainwashed you! What happened to our teacher who hated vampires with every ounce of life she had in her?”
“I had my life drained out of me. I am a vampire now, and I can’t hate what I am. I regret saying that I was a demon huntress. If I had the chance I would take back everything I did. With Master Von’s new machine ready for power soon I will make sure no human will have the same regrets. The world will be cloaked in darkness and all human barriers will disappear. We will be free to feed on as many humans as we want. Nina is already one of our little breeders. When she makes due and finishes her life of childbirth she’ll be eaten as well. Make your choice Chikaru, be a breeding pet or a slave to my power.”
“Neither!” Chikaru grabbed the mirror in Nichu’s room and smashed it to pieces. She grabbed the broken wood and used it as her weapon against Kana. Kana dodged Chikaru’s attacked and broke the wood with one swift punch.
“You forget. I was one of the elders of the school. And now that my strength has tripled from becoming a vampire I’m indestructible!”
“You aren’t human anymore. That I can see. I will put you out of your misery.” Chikaru took up another wooden plan and broke it in half with one swift whack. The board split down the middle till it fell apart into two small, crooked spears. Chikaru hesitated to throw the first spear.
“Why do you hesitate Chikaru? Go ahead and kill me if you dare.” Kana chuckled.
“Forgive me Kana Sensei.” Chikaru spun around and the first spear sliced Kana’s arm. The second cut right across her face. Nichu rushed into the room when he heard the sound of Kana’s hiss.
He saw Chikaru slicing away at Kana. Kana couldn’t fight Chikaru at her full power. Nichu jumped up into the air and attacked from above. He wrapped his arms around Chikaru and Chikaru broke his nose with her head. Nichu’s grasp was loosened and Chikaru took both spears and rammed them through Kana and Nichu’s chest. She let go of the spears and the two fell to the ground side by side. She saw Nichu faded into a pile of dust and Kana transformed back into a human before turning to dust herself. Chikaru left the room, her heart burdened by her teacher’s death.
