Reluctant Protagonists
We walk on two legs, not on four. To walk on four legs breaks the law. What happens when we break the law? What happens when the rules aren't fair? We all know where we go from there; back to the house of pain...
I've become well adapted to replacing issues with issues of equal consequence. My knees and leg muscles had healed up rather nicely for a while, only to leave me crippled with the flu of massive bodily aches. This kept me out of training for an even greater time anticipated, however also gave me ample time to make friends and join a guild in Maple Story (which is the only bright side I can come up with). Now that I'm clear of illness, I've been ailed with strange pain in my wrists, which scared the bajeezus out of me, because this meant I needed to take more time off of training since push ups make up 90% of what I do. I'm still waiting to see the second doctor on that, because I've been going through odd waves of pain still after the splinting period. I'm hoping it's nothing at all serious. Now my ankles ache, so I'm beginning to believe that I'm not getting enough food, and my body is straining. I expect to force a remedy on this one in hopes that it works while I'm waiting for my appointment.

My favorite sparring buddy got a bicycle for his birthday, so this gives me someone new to go biking with. It's much more fun biking with friends than it is biking alone, however there isn't much conversation so I don't really see how that adds up. At any rate, we went for a ride with the Yeti last Sunday, and I had a great deal of fun to have been getting exercise since my health had started failing me. Physical activity means a lot to me. My wrists seemed to be giving me issues holding onto the bars though, and that impresses the fact that I need to see the second doctor badly. I couldn't bare to tell them this though, because I didn't want them to know I was injured that much. Toward the end, my brakes went out, and my slower pace was impacted to a halt, rather abruptly separating me from the group. After making my repairs, I had called the Goat, to tell him that I'd make a B-line to my house as I shouldn't press my like on the brakes. When they called me back later, it so happened that they waited for me on the bridge for a while before giving up on me because we were so near my house. I felt bad for being the anchor, but I'm glad they didn't think ill of it at all.

Maple Story has been kind to me during my hiatus. I've brought my Page to level 49, and my Cleric is at 39--just moments before I can give him his next weapon. I've come to both enjoy, and loath, party quests though. My Page has never seen one, but my Cleric has been at it furiously to amass enough coins to buy Spiegleman's necklace to give a plus one to every stat. I was hoping to have one of those for every character, however the quest gives too much experience and the coins drop too few before the level cap of 51, so I imagine I'll be lucky to get just one. Which doesn't bother me, because my friend and guildmate had proded that he would chuck out the one to three million mesos so I could have one too (this is one of the guys that keeps me from becoming bored with the game). I wish I could spend most of the time I spend in this game out training, but my joints feel like they're in no shape to do that, so this is where I'm stuck.

On a much-less-fun note in the game, our guild BBS had been spammed 28 times by a character that was then removed from our roster. I've put together who's character it was, and why "it" would be acting this way. Sadly, that was one of our nice guildmembers, and one I had funded when his cousin hijacked his account and robbed his equipment, so the guild leader feels the loss (and not just because he gave him a maple sword). Hopefully he makes a new account to rejoin the guild.

In more inactivity, I finally got around to watching Macross 7 after years of just not having access to it. It was pretty weird to be a sequal of the original to me, but after a while in, I just took it as impressing the moral of the original in that "the power of song is powerful and can end conflicts." I really like this message, especially since it's used much less as a distractionary measure in this one as it was in the original, because it gives hope that people wouldn't have to kill each other to solve conflicts. The soundtrack was supurb in my opinion with Fukuyama Yoshiki as the seiyuu for Basara's singing voice. The character cameos from the original brought humor and attatchment to the show right off the bat, and made it much easier to follow the characters given that I'd already been intruduced to three of hte main cast prior. The one gripe that I understand is that there isn't very much robot combat in this one as this is played out by Nekki Basara (the main character) singing the same three songs over and over to the enemy for his own mysterious reasons. I liked hearing the songs over and over each episode, so this wasn't my gripe at all. I'd recommend it, because it set me up to understand where Macross Frontier is coming from.

Speaking of which, I've finally found another show to get addicted to again. I'm constantly anxious to see the next episode of Macross Frontier every week. The plot seems to somewhat follow the original formula with a new mysterious alien to battle, a skilled new rookie, an adorable loli that has promise to sing and inspire the whole ship, and a strange affect on the enemy with song. The flight animation cg, made a series standard starting with Macross Zero, seems to work well and looks absolutely great despite my preference for classically painted animation panals. The first six episodes have a mix of action, intrigue, love-triangles, and music that I hope continues throughout the series with as few moments of slow, boring filler. I'll be watching episode seven shortly, and I expect great things from it since the last episode was heavily forboding and mostly a letdown of plot-pushing proportions.

This Summer I want to have my body fixed up so I can get back to practice as usual. I hate sitting around like this, however, since school is finished at the moment I believe I can find something nice to read. ^_^

P.S. I failed Mandarin... -_-
