Yesterday, I was at the park with Katie.
We were watching these kids, playing with those balloons that "scream" and kind of hover as they deflate. And how we wished we could be them again.
I want to live, where my only worry is "do I get the blue or the red popsicle?".
In many ways, I do want to grow up and get on with my life. Having a job, being able to focus on one subject I really care about instead of having to take classes I detest - which really only is history. But not just doing work in preparation for a test... doing work to make a product, or to find a cure, eventually.
That's the kind of thrill I get in order to complete work for Okashi - because I know that when it comes out, I'll have worked on it.
Anyway, back to where I was...
Childhood is great. There is no stress.
Of course, you might not get the color Power Ranger you wanted (not that kids are still playing with those... are they?), but you never hear cases of a depressed 5-year-old.
To me, it's that kind of innocence and endless sense of fun that I still wish I had.
The ability to dream that, one day, I'll live in an ice cream castle. Something like that.
When you're younger, like in middle school, or freshman year, you really don't focus much on your childhood, except for possibly the "Ew, how could I have liked this... I was such a n00b!"
Thing is, I'm in that "in-between" stage. I'm still a kid, and yet, I'm almost half-over with high school.
It's a bit of a mid-life crisis, only... a late childhood crisis?
It's just difficult.
We all need to eat popsicles and go to playgrounds more often.

Enough to remind me of who I was.
