Sometimes I can't help but to think
Of all the times I needed you.
It brings a tear to my eye
To remember what we went through.
I gave you everything I had,
My heart, my soul, my mind.
And I surely had thought
That no matter what happened
We would make it through all time.
But then one day you looked at me
And I could really see the pain.
You told me that you wanted to be free,
That you couldn't really stay.
I begged with you to think again,
To not make sudden moves.
But I could tell from your face
That you'd thought this one through.
So I let you walk away from me,
Even though it hurt so bad.
I cried for many days and nights,
Wishing I still had you.
But then one day things began to change,
When I realized I'd be okay.
I met an angel who made me smile
And made the pain start to go away.
He showed me how to live again
And he stole my heart, too.
So now I guess all I have to say
Is that I thank God for you.
Not because you broke my heart
And not because you made me cry,
But because you forced me to live again,
To meet someone new.
And now I have a perfect star
Who understands my every dream,
Who knows when I laugh and when I cry.
And he's always there for me.
So, thank you for the good times.
I forgive you for the bad.
And for forcing me to fly.
