Mogo's Dossier
I will write what I want, when I want, and likely, not much at all! DEAL WITH IT.
Quotes that I like.

I've come upon my new favorite quote.

"I am prepared to meet my Maker. Whether my Maker is prepared for the great ordeal of meeting me is another matter."
- Sir Winston Churchill

Sir Winston Churchill has always been an inspiration and also a source of razor-sharp wit. He was also often drunk, which likely only made him wittier. Damn, I wish I knew him personally.

Addendum:

"Coming home from very lonely places, all of us go a little mad: whether from great personal success, or just an all-night drive, we are the sole survivors of a world no one else has ever seen."
- John le Carre

John le Carre studied at Oxford, worked in the british MI6, and then became a writer, mostly of espionage novels. He writes in ways that are unbelievable...

Edit: Screw it. This has become my Quotes journal.

I believe in looking reality straight in the eye and denying it.

- Garrison Keillor

Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.
- Philip K. d**k

I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me.

- Hunter S. Thompson

I'm too shy to express my sexual needs except over the phone to people I don't know.
- Garry Shandling

Always do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest.
- Mark Twain

The following quote is an entire passage from one of the co-creators at www.ThreePanelSoul.com. It is so tear-jerkingly funny that I have to share it. Once you figure out what he's talking about (a very very low-fi ascii character based simulator game called Dwarf Fortress), it's absolutely hysterical. Without further ado:

"Dwarf Fortress models an awful lot in its little miniature world, but pet overpopulation isn't one of them. Tame animals don't need to eat, but will endlessly reproduce. Cats spawn in large litters and are also readily adopted by the dwarves, who will then throw a fit if you kill off Mr. Snugglepuss. The resulting catsplosion brings the CPU to a crawl as it tries to handle the pathfinding for hundreds of mewling ambient units.

Even with two butcher shops going full-tilt, I can barely put a dent in the stray population. However, each butchery triggers one of my tanners to go to work. One top of that, I've had to build new shops and train new bonecrafters, chefs and leatherworkers just to keep my storehouses of raw materials from overflowing. It's reached the point where my entire dwarven economy is based around the slaughter of helpless kittens, which is a rather spectacular way for a civilization to decline."
