He told her to wait; to wait for him to return for Christmas. He promised he'd be back. She always believed her lover, so why should he lie now? She didn't know how long she had stood there, outside in the cold snow with her small dress on. After all, she only had half of her heart - the other half was across the world. She didn't move from that spot not a moment as people stared. Even animals gathered themselves around her for warmth or comfort, she atually didn't notice much.
The night streets were frightening and she didn't even realize that she was being attacked. It seemed a stray cat was desperate for food, pouncing on her head and beginning to eat her alive. She just stared ahead as another cat wrapped it's way around her neck. She felt frozen stiff; unable to move as blood clouded her vision and dripped down her body. The last thing she saw in the morning were doves, taking the unwilling girl to her resting place.
