So much death in Harry Potter 7... |

Okay, so this is a topic that's been coming up a bit amongst my friends and I, and I feel the need to vent. So prepare for a rant, put on your helmets and dive into the bunkers, 'cause I'm gonna start up on all the people killed in HP7. Although I do love the books, don't get me wrong, I just...I dunno, it's so sad.
WARNING: If you for whatever reason have not yet read the seventh Harry Potter book and don't want to be depressed by finding out who dies (though how you wouldn't know by now I have no idea), do not continue reading. I repeat, DO NOT CONTINUE.
~Mad Eye Moody Well first off, killing Mad Eye Moody wasn't too bad, though he was quite funny. And I do suppose there had to be some sort of death and/or injury besides George's ear getting lopped off in that big dramatic chase scene, but it's still kinda sad.
~Hedwig Then Hedwig. This is about the point when I first got upset about who Rowling killed off in this book, 'cause I mean really, HEDWIG?! The poor birdy! Though that one makes sense too, because it would sorta be impractical for Harry and Co. to be hunting around for the horcruxes with an owl trailing along with them, so I can see how there sort of needed to be a way to get her out of the way. But still, she was so iconic of the series, was such a cool character, and she wasn't even human...
~Peter Pettigrew Well, this one wasn't quite as sad for me, as I never really liked ol' Wormtail all that much, except of course in the Pensive flashback in book 5, then he was funny. Although I must say I also sorta found his death kinda anti-climactic, but that's probably just me being crazy. XP
~Dobby Okay, this was depressing for me. Dobby is so awesome, why'd he have to die? He was so...I dunno, he was just such a cool character. And I always kinda loved him, so it made me sad. Though this also kinda makes sense as they couldn't really just have Harry and the gang escape the clutches of evil without having something bad happening besides Pettigrew kicking the bucket. Man...poor little thing.
TIMESKIP =O Now I'm gonna skip way ahead to the massive truckload of people killed off in the big battle at Hogwarts, because most of the people (that I can think of) who die before this and after the guys I've already mentioned aren't terribly important and angst-inducing.
~Crabbe Crabbe...well, he was a bad guy, sure, and a fairly unimportant bad guy at that. And it did make sense to kill SOMEBODY in that big dramatic thing in the Room of Requirement, and since Malfoy's pair of cronies were oh-so-conviniently there, it was pretty much made to be.
~Snape -sigh- Snape, she killed Snape. Well, it does make sense, as this way she's sorta completing the whole thing where she makes sure that none of the Marauders or any of the people who were closely assosiated with them (i.e. Snape and Lily) make it out of the series alive. I mean, now they can all be together in the afterlife, where James can persecute poor Snivellus for all of eternity, if Snape doesn't sectumsempra him into oblivion first...no, wait, I'm getting off topic. But yeah, very sad, but very necessary with this one.
~Lupin Along with the whole theme of killing Marauders is how Lupin dies. While I personally was starting to tear up at this point, it is understandable with this one. I mean really, he was the last of the Marauders alive at this point, she couldn't just let that slide. Still, nonetheless, this one was really sad. -sob- Poor Moony.
~Tonks This one I don't get. I mean, I understand her killing off Lupin, but why does Tonks have to go too? She's making poor Teddy an orphan right off the bat (though he's still got his grandmother, Andromeda, so it's not SO bad), I mean really. Maybe she just didn't want her to be left alone without Lupin and that's why she killed her, I dunno, but I always liked Tonks, she was funny...
~Colin Creevy Now I'm getting upset, really, Colin Creevy?! As if the whole getting petrified by the basilisk in book 2 thing wasn't bad enough for him! -sob- The poor little thing, though I suppose he's just another casualty of war and all that stuff, and showing how awful the whole thing was, but COME ON!!!
~Bellatrix Lestrange Well...come to think of it, she kinda deserved it, after all the bad stuff she'd done. And it would have been just horrible if Rowling had let HER live through the whole thing, so I guess it's pretty much okay.
~Fred Weasley And now, ladies and gentlemen, comes the part where I break down into a fit of despair and start shouting and sobbing incoherently. Still got those helmets? Good. ....NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! WHY FRED????!!!! I mean, come ON, of all the Weasley kids she could've killed, why'd it have to be one of the twins?! Though I get how she couldn't kill Ron or Ginny as that would be just too darn depressing and would kinda kill the story, but Fred and George were just the perfect comedy duo! I suppose that a lot of why I find this death particularly depressing and heart-wrenching is because of George. Poor George, I mean first he gets his ear cut off and then he loses his twin? That's so mean!! Although I did read on Wikipedia that according to Rowling George still manages to keep Weasley's Wizard Wheezes going after Fred's death, and that he marries Angelina Johnson and has two kids, so that's sort of okay. But STILL!!! She killed Fred....-collapses on floor in a sobbing heap-
Alrighty then, I guess that's it. Rant over, it's safe to come out now. Also before you start pming me telling me how wrong I am I just wanna say that these are my OPINIONS, you don't have to like them, I just felt like typing them up. So if you disagree, DEAL WITH IT. It's not the end of the world. Thank you. =3
