SO
For anyone who doesn't know (and even those who do might need a refresher)
I'm a very artsy person
I draw during school
I have enough art supplies to fill a large refrigerator (if one was so inclined to do that)
And lucky me, I live about 10 minutes away from a giant art-teaching place
It's wonderful
So basically, this place has just about every kind of art class ever
Just to name a few of the ones I've taken...
Fused glass, metalworking, enameling & weaving
There's drawing, painting, sculpting, etc., too
The most recent one I've taken is weaving
So I wove like, THE most comfortable scarf I've even worn in my life
It's cotton & chenille (if you don't know what chenille is, it's just really fluffy and fuzzy and warm but it breaks/rips/tears easily)
The cotton held up fine for the whole process, but of course on my second-to-last class, threads starting popping a.k.a they just kind of snapped and were no longer usable
So, I had three chenille threads pop on me and I was pretty bummed
But of course I wanna see if what I have is still usable, so I unwind my scarf off the loom roller (it's like a tube that whatever you're weaving gets wrapped around, it helps control tension to get an even weave, too) and it's huge
I hold up the scarf and it's BIGGER THAN ME
In case this means nothing to you, I'm just over 6 feet tall
And stretching my arms all the way over my head to hold up the scarf, part of it still trailed on the floor
So I was okay with my popped threads, and I kept my scarf like that
AND THEN AND THEN AND THEN
Tragedy struck
SRSLY
I worked on this thing for 15 hours
And when I pulled it off the loom, it had an E-FRICKIN-NORMOUS rip in it ;-;
So now I can't wear it till it gets all patched up
But it's frickin cold here and all my other scarves are too small or ripped
SEE LOOK I WAS TELLING THE TRUTH
The rip is just over an inch wide D'=
I just noticed my measuring tape was off by about 4 inches
(it's actually 86 inches long =P)
