Valentine's Day!
heart

Happy Valentine's Day to all! Or at least, I wish it so... Even if you aren't having a good day, please try to. Where I am right now, there is still a little bit of time left before the holiday is over! So get out there and so some celebrating, people! I mean it. There is always something good about Valentine's Day. Example?

I got to eat candy today [and brownies, my friend and her boyfriend ROCK!].

Now that is something good. Candy and brownies always make people happy, unless you just brushed your teeth and it is one of those candies that is filled with, like, orange or something. That is awful... Or if you're one of those cynical people who are like: "Candy just gives you cavities! Tooth decay isn't something to celebrate!" or better yet "Brownies?! Gaul, Twilight, that was an excess in calories. Are you telling us to go get fat and be happy about it? No thank you!"

To all those cynical people out there [who said stuff like that, those cynical people who didn't, you are still cool] I have this to say:

Get over yourselves. Candy and brownies make you happy, and it isn't all just your imagination. There is a chemical released in your brain that gives you the feeling of being in love [not of flying, that would be some other drug, but wouldn't it be cool if brownies chocolate (naturally) made you feel like you were flying?], and yes, that is something to celebrate, I think.

Don't believe me? Well, some pretty cool scientists did a study on it. [You have to scroll down a bit...]

Off of my rant about chocolate and its wonderfullness...

Did you know that today was also Singles Awareness Day?
My theory behind this: Today is when everyone who's with someone [who is a couple, duh...] is holding hands and no one thinks it is odd. Because it is Valentine's Day, of course. Because no one cares, people think nothing of it, so they are acutely aware of the people who are NOT attatched to someone else by the hand. Thus, you would be AWARE of SINGLES.

Also, in the ancient Roman Calendar, their celebration of Lupercalia is tomorrow. This is where the Romans would sacrifice some goats and a dog to Lupercus, the one who watched the herds, near his cave, which was sacred to him. Then the Luperci, some young guys who were under-dressed would sprint through town, striking the hands of young [married] women so they could have children in the upcoming year. It was changed to the Feast of Purification years later as an attempt to hide its pagan-ness. And then some more years came and went, and now it is Valentine's Day. Or the day AFTER Valentine's Day.

And there you have the ANCIENT history of Valentine's Day, my theory on it, and a nice sized rant about chocolate/candy. I think that is enough for one entry, don't you?
