I’m not sure where to begin so I’ll recap what’s happened since I last posted about the whole management company fiasco.
The mgmt. Co. at my old place sent me an invoice for January rent and they sent it to my old address (it was forwarded) a week later they sent me a late notice (also to the old address). I called legal aid and spoke to a lawyer (again) who told me he believed I was in the right, don’t pay it and call him back if they don’t send me a letter telling me what they’re going to do with my deposit within 21 days. He also said they were probably pretending they didn’t know my forwarding address because I didn’t send the letter certified the first time. So I fired off a letter to them reminding them of what my forwarding address is, that I spoke to a lawyer and I am not paying plus I want my deposit back and I sent it certified mail. I received a response from them (at the new address) saying they were sending mail to my old address because I never gave them my forwarding address (ah ha – bullshit.). They also repeated the same crap they’ve been saying right along about insufficient notice and pay up within 10 days or they’ll take me to court etc. they didn’t mention my deposit at all. I tried the lawyer guy back twice now and left messages both times (he wasn’t in the office) but I haven’t heard back from him. Then I got a bill for February rent at my old apartment!! Omg are you freaking kidding me? On top of that, they sent it to my old address – after having received a certified letter telling them my new one! I still haven’t gotten my CRP tax form from them or the letter saying what they’re doing with my deposit either. So I’m freaking out because I really need a lawyer right now to help me with this and the guy who said to call back hasn’t returned my calls to him. I’m going to have to file in conciliation court to get my deposit back from them. Crap. I really didn’t want to have to do that and I’m beyond terrified that I’ll lose and have to pay them. That would cause me tremendous financial hardship. On top of all that my car that I’ve been making payments on for 5 years now and is almost paid off is suddenly running crappy and needs to go into the shop. And over the weekend I got a letter from americredit (who’s financing my car loan) that they want the balance owed on the car in one lump sum by March 2nd! That’s 1200 dollars!! I don’t get that much money per month in income, I live on 900 bucks a month. I am unbelievably pissed. When I bought the car on the lot the price tag was 8,000. Over five years I have paid 15,000 to americredit for that car and now they want me to cough up 1200 all at once with little warning or they’ll come and repo it. ~sigh~ at least I have a plan for dealing with that issue – there’s a small loan company I’ve done business with before and they may be willing to help me out again. So yeah, things are pretty messed up here right at the moment. I’ve been trying to keep my mind off of it all with projects around the house here; it helps remind me of my good luck – my new home is so much nicer than the old one and priced so I can afford it. My new landlords are family to me. Things could always be worse, but sometimes the stress is just too much for me. So that’s what’s happening here lately. I could really use a little good luck so if you have any to spare send it my way ok?
I’m gonna go play a game of word bump and then crash – gotta talk to the loan guy in the afternoon…..

Oh Snuffs you poor thing sad

If the lawyer guy doesn't call you back try contacting a different person there at legal aid. You ARE in the right as far as I can tell. If you worked for them and they paid you and have not sent your tax deal yet THEY are in trouble with the federal government - nail them big time, they will get a fine of over 10,000 think.

If you have to go to court over the apt. deal then sadly I say GO, with any and all proof they said your notice was fine (even from that other person who told you that).

As to the car, did your old building owners know you were financing/paying off your car? If they did, they may have secretly contacted the bank and told them what was going on, hence the bank demading their money. Unless you were behind on payments or late paying, I cannot see a bank demanding full payment so quickly, check into that...if they did call the bank, then they can also be nail for defermation of character
