I wish to see my wonderland again,
Pure and free,
Buzzing and blooming,
Radiant and vast,
As I was once a young child.
It was always within my reach,
No walls blocked its view,
A city constantly shifting,
A sacred place in the palm of my hand,
The light never dim or went out,
Shining like a beckoning light,
Even in the oddest hours.
But now it has become
Twisted and dirty,
Lost in the wilderness of my mind,
The lights dims on and off
In the darkness,
The roadways are overgrown by grass
And broken apart,
I try to clasp my holy place
In my hands again,
But it slips through my fingers
And out my hand,
Back into the wilds of shadows,
Always out of my reach,
My sobbing and tears blur my eyes,
Turning its light into a teasing haze.
I wish one glimpse of its wonders,
To see the sites and the people
Of my greatest creation,
My tears flood the city’s streets,
My cries howled into its night,
Straining to be heard
In its citizens ears,
They never do notice my cries,
Treating it like an illusion
Drifting in the breeze.
The wanderlust to explore my city
Never goes away,
Leaving me to wonder
About its changes and revolutions,
It burns into my mind
Within each creative thought,
Telling me to close my eyes,
And return home within my dreams.
