Belle looked out of the car window, seeing all her friends from her kindergarten class wave goodbye. Her mom had picked her and her little brother up from school today instead of having them ride the bus. Actually, she had picked up her dad and older brother also. That’s when she noticed they weren't going home. "Mommy where are we going?" she asked. "I just thought we should spend the evening together." she smiled. Belle could hear her brother groan at the thought of being stuck with his parents the rest of the day. As they drove trying to find a parking space she saw a boy walking back into an ally limping. She saw him turn around and look straight at her. His eyes looked so soft and happy but his body looked hurt. "It's not polite to stare." her older brother said looking down at her. When they found a space she jumped out of the car. But before that she had to wake up her little brother Keagan. They walked down different streets going into different stores. She was even allowed to pick a new stuffed animal. She chose a stuffed black dog. It was “adorable” in her mother’s words. Then it had started to rain. "I guess we have to cut this family outing short.” Her mother said. “Yes!” Chad said happily. “Chad.” her dad said sternly. As they walked back to the car she walked behind her brother holding his hand. Then they passed the alley were she saw the boy again. Up close he looked even worse. She stopped and tried to let go of her brother’s hand and when she did she ran up to the boy. With her stuff animal in hand she walked closer. "Uh...m-mister are you okay?" she asked. He looked up at her and smiled slightly. She looked over him completely. He was covered in blood. Then her older brother grabbed her and pulled her away. "Belle I told you never to trail off by yourself?" he said then looked at the boy shocked. He couldn't have been older than him. "Brother he’s hurt." she said trying to break his grasp. "Calm down Belle I can see that." he said concerned. He walked up to him. He didn't look to be like the usual crowd who were usually here. He kneeled down and got straight to the point. "Do you want to go to the hospital?" He saw the boy shake his head no. Chad frowned. He wasn't going to leave him there. Belle frowned. "But you are hurt." she said stating the obvious. All he did was smile. Then Belle heard someone cream her name from behind her. She turned around, it was her mom. Her mom held her back from the boy while her dad approached him. Him being a doctor the first thing he thought was that this boy needed medical attention. "Dad he said he doesn't want to go to a hospital." Chad said keeping one eye on the boy. Why had no one else noticed him? His dad sighed. "Well he needs to go." Belle started to tear up. She was scared. There was so much blood on him. "Can't we take him home and help him?" she asked. "No, Belle. We don't even know this boy. What if once we help him he goes bad? He might try something sneaky." she said looking at him. Then her little brother walked from their mother’s side to his fathers. He buried his face into his dad’s leg and started crying. This scared him the most. "Dad let’s just take him home. It’s a lot closer than the hospital." Chad said as he saw the boy trying to close his eyes. "No." his mother protested. "Come on, Stella. Aren't we supposed to teach the kids the right thing to do?" She frowned. "But why does it have to be helping a bloody stranger?" "Cause he obviously needs help." The dad said. Her head shot up and she smiled. "O.k. then I'll go fetch the car a drive it here." she said picking up Keagan, wiping away his tears and walked quickly to the car. As they waited for Belle's mom to come back she could even notice that the boy was drifting in and out of consciousness. "Daddy, I'm scared." she said tugging at his pant leg. She saw him try to smile. "Don't be Belle." Then she saw her mom pull up with the car. "I'll take this arm and you take the other." Chad said to his dad. They both carried him to the car which was now overcrowded. When they drove to the house they were going at tad bit faster than usual. When they arrived Belle opened the door for them and the men carried him inside. Her mother had gotten fresh towels. Keagan held Belles hand not wanting to let go. "C'mon Keagan lets go see if we can help." Belle said pulling her brother into the guest room that the stranger was set. When their brother noticed that they were there he picked both of them up and bring them into the family room where he set them down onto the couch. He knelt down and said. "You two stay here while we try to help him, okay?" "But-" Then Belle was cut off. "No ‘buts’ either." Chad turned on the T.V. and smiled. "Just watch some cartoons and I promise I'll tell you when you can see him." he walked away quickly shutting the door behind him.
