Ellie had wandered outside after everyone had gone to sleep. She had hoped that walking around for a while would help her sleep. They had managed to complete all of their marks for the day and no extras had been posted throughout the day. She walked through the forest town and looked at all of the closed shops. Soon she began to head back toward the house but as she walked she could feel something watching her. There had been a string of disappearances that even Gale couldn't find an answer to. Ellie had a feeling she was going to find out soon. She reached the house and gave a sigh of relief. "Must have been nothing..." The cloaked figure from before appeared on the house. "Ellie...." She looked up. "Zane?!" He jumped down in front of her. "How have you been?" She smiled. "I havent slept in a while... but other than that things are good." Zane nodded. "Do you know anything about the disappearances?" She shook her head. "No.... none of us can figure it out.... and no real information has presented itself...." Zane sighed. "I see.... Ceru was worried about the little girl...." The disappearances had all been young girls such as Hanna. "I've been worried too.... We are usually out hunting for most of the night... If she is taken Gale might..." Zane interupted. "The aura.... I know... thats why I've been guarding the house at night." Cid burst through the door with his hammer. "Who's out here?!" Zane and Ellie held back a laugh. "What the hell are you kids doing?" Zane shook his head. "I've been guarding the house at night while you four go out and hunt..." Cid sighed. "The disappearances botherin ya?" Zane nodded. "Well you shouldn't make so much noise.... Y'know Gale has better hearing than me." Gale jumped down off the roof. "That I do......" Zane stepped back. "I must go now......" He jumped off into the forest. "Who was he...." Cid and Ellie remained silent. Gale glared and walked back toward the door. "Fine...." He walked to his desk and sat in his chair. "Since we are all up... why don't we go and track down a mark or two that we have been behind on...." Ellie and Cid joined him by the desk. "Like... the disappearances.." Ellie gulped. "Ellie wonders alot at night.... and I know she has said she felt like she was being watched." Ellie nodded. "Tonight too.... I thought it might have been what ever has been causing the disappearances." Cid and Gale nodded. "Right... so then it must be targeting Ellie... right?" Gale sighed. "That.. or the thing is waiting for Ellie to leave the house.... along with the rest of us." Cid sighed. "Hanna...." Gale nodded. "I was afraid of that...." Gale stood up from his chair. "We have to find someone who is strong to guard the house while we are hunting.... Someone that wouldn't mind working with your little friend." Gale smiled and walked towards his room. "But for now.... everyone get some sleep.... you especially Ellie...." Ellie and Cid nodded and they all went back to their rooms. Gale and Ellie lay awake silently for a while. Gale simply stared at the ceiling. "Gale....." Gale looked over at Ellie. "Yeah?" She sighed and shook her head. "We... should take a break tomorrow and work more of this disappear mark...." Gale had a feeling that wasn't all she had wanted to say but he nodded. "Okay. I'll let everyone know that they have the day off from mark hunting tomorrow..." Ellie sighed and turned to face the wall. Gale looked back up at the ceiling and remained awake for the night. Ellie slowly faded into sleep.
