In Japan, there is an insect that is about the size of a book, and resembles a pincer beetle.
This beetle's eggs, but be laid underground, and do not hatch for several years....
But, once every few years, they all hatch at once, on the night of a full moon. They climb out from the ground and up to the highest branches of the nearest trees, and then cry and cry all night long.
And then, by morning, they all die.
Sort of makes you think.
