Plan to Gamble

A good writer takes time to make outlines and brainstorm ideas to prepare to write a rough draft. A good writer works hard to get the paper done. Instead, I am lazy and hate writing. I also have bad hand writing that is why I have difficulties when I try to brainstorm on a piece of paper. I used to be a good writer when I started in high school. I picture what I about to write and write down on the piece of papers ideas when it comes into my head. I am poor editor, so I need help from others to make my essay better. Sometimes I need more time so I can create a foundation for my essay and continue to build up to create an awesome essay. Later I become lazy and started to procrastinate, and type random ideas into the final draft. I believed that I used to be a builder and planner writer type in high school but, now I am a gambler type.

When I was a sophomore in high school in 2004, I work very hard to get good grades on my paper. The reason why I am a planner type of writer, when I first received my assignment, I start working right away. I brainstorm different ideas and create outlines. I do not get off-track on what I suppose to do. After sports activities, I come home and start to write my essay. I also think and meditate on what to write. I plan and meditate about the essay and find ways to make my essay better. I always turn in my essay before everyone in class. I would like to have the highest grade in class and be praised by my classmates. At the end of my sophomore year, I was the top writer in my English Class.

I finally stated to get challenge when I was a junior in high school. Essays begin to get harder and I need more time to write to get a good essay. I use my planning skills back in sophomore year to keep improving my essay. After I finished my rough draft, I seek teachers or anyone for help. Seeking help takes a lot of my time, because sometimes teachers or friends are busy and I have to work by myself. After when I finished an essay, I take my time planning and try to create a decent thesis and have a well written outline.

I finally become a senior I feel great, but the year is going to be much harder than junior year. After 3 months as a senior in high school, I began to procrastinate and became lazy. All I want to do is go home and play games. I began to lose my writing style of planning and building my essay. Maybe I am had senioritis, a common study disorder that seniors in high school get. Every day after school, I just want to go home and play video games and not getting started with my essays until the last minute. For the whole year, my English grades are based on luck. Sometimes I get As, sometimes I get Fs. Now I would call myself a gambler type of writer. I stop working hard as I used to. I also know that if I don’t
get rid of senioritis, I will struggle in college.

When I began to take college classes, I was overwhelmed. I feel stressed that I am now in college. My first essay for my EAP class I did pretty well. I got an A- on my paper. I still have poor editing skills, but I am too lazy to improve my editing skills. I am trying to work hard, and trying to stay away from home because of temptation of playing video games. Even though I am a gambler type writer, I still have abilities to plan and build on my essay to make my essay better. Sometimes I start planning and make outlines before I start writing my essay. In essay 3, I plan very hard and did many researches. I enrolled in write 95 to get help on my grammar, sentence structure and also to improve my essay.

Based on many years of my past, I was a passionate and a good writer. Now I am a poor writer. Senioritis has killed my writing abilities and I have become lazy. As of today I am a gambler, but I am also a builder and planner. If there is a topic that I like for example, essay 1 or 4 I will work hard to get my essay in good shape before the deadline. I will also go to write95 to get help. I also know that if a teacher or someone that is good in English reads my paper, I am sure that I have many errors and problems in my essay draft. After this quarter ends I will strive to become a better writer and try to get rid of my procrastinate habit.
