My Friends
If you are my friend, you will read this.
If you are a true friend, you will comment this.
I have been hurt deeply in the past by people who used to be my friends, because I was naive and foolish enough to believe that people think similarily to me. I am older now, and wiser, and a recent experience has taught me otherwise. So to all of my friends, I suggest that you read this, because here you will find out what being my friend actually means.
Some people consider their friends just people to talk to and hang out with. Some people make friends simply 'out of convenience', or because they seem to share some similar interest.
To me, once you become my friend, you are my friend for life. Even if you move away, or forget about me, that doesn't change. You are my friend, and therefore you become a close person to me. You become more than just a passing person I like. You become FAMILY.
Many people won't be able to understand this viewpoint of mine. How could friends be family? But they are family to me. Obviously, most people think of family as people who share blood or marital ties. But family also are the people who are most important to eachother, who you care about more than anyone else. You might ask me, well what about your real family? Only those of my 'real family' who I count among my friends are family to me.
As I am open hearted to nearly everybody, most of my 'real family' are considered family by me. So, now that we are clear on this, you know that all my friends are my family. I love all my friends, and I care about them more deeply than anyone else. None of my friends are more important to me than anyone else, except for my boyfriend, who I love more than anyone. I take care of my friends, and I try to help them in any way I can. They are loved, respected, and highly valued by me, and no amount of time can ever change that.
However, I do expect the same back from my own friends. So if you do not share my feelings in the matter, or want to give me back the same as I give you, please do not waste my time by asking me to be your friend. It will only cause me great heartbreak and suffering otherwise.
But to all my friends, I do love and care about you very much, and I will always be there for you.
