HNMs. Basically you would need what amounts to a small army to take down one of these. Standard end-game content. Yawn. So, why go through the trouble? There are probably a few linkshells that do it for the sheer accomplishment (and to them, you have my undying praise) but really, why do you join HNM linkshells in the first place? Items, of course. Items only this monster of a beast will drop. And let's add that, quite possibly, more than one person in your mini-army wants said items. Now you must go through the motions over and over until everyone is satisfied. Again, standard end game borefest.
Now, Merits. I can go on and on about Merits but this just about sums it up: Max lvl grind. That's right. After slaving under the grind to 75/37, you get... another grind. I think I'll stop here before I hurt myself.
Honestly, what is there that is gonna keep me interested besides the daily "log-on-or-get-raped" threat? While it doesn't help that I pretty much signed a blood oath to keep playing, I would very much like some semblance of motivation in this endless world of grind. It's gotten to the point where I'm half-asleep while I'm in a party and as a tank, that's pretty bad.
On a not-so-unrelated note, it seems like my "Memoirs of a Slayer" journal entry won't be seen anytime soon. Again, blame Vana'diel. Instead, I offer a little something that tells a bit of what I went through:
