The rest of part one, or, Middle. Not much, I know, but hey. Now I have to go back, edit the first part, then start on part two, or Beginning. There are four parts, by the way: Middle, Beginning, Redemption, Ending.
“You can look up now. We’re safe.” Came his voice, which was the most wonderful thing I could have heard at the moment. Lifting my head slowly, I looked over a large shoulder of his just to stare into darkness almost as bad as his fur. His body jumped lightly and I moved with it, he landing with a small thunk on the ground.
“How much farther until we get out of here?” I asked quietly, my voice trembling. I felt his shoulder heave slightly in a forward motion which I was guessing was supposed to be a shrug.
“Not long, I’m sure.” He answered. I just noticed how alienated and weird his voice was. It wasn’t human, but it had human undertones. It was…disgusting and yet a gorgeous blend of sounds. It reminded me of cocaine; you knew it was bad, but once you took it, the influences of it were beyond what you could have imagined. After a second I snapped back together and nodded, resting the side of my head on his back, pondering over what I was going to do once we got out of this rat hole. Where was my sister?
Thalassa
Damn them! Damn them all to rotten hell! I try so hard to keep my beautiful little home hidden, and here they come, barging in like this! What right do they have to come in to my turf, my home I try so hard to protect, and start to slaughter my kin and children?! None. That’s right, they didn’t have a single damn right, damn damn right, and here they are! Well, I’ll teach them to stay out of their business and keep their little ******** noses to themselves! They have no right to come in and slaughter my kin.
At least Faolan has the girl.
I hope he is having fun.
Jeremiah
I wandered through the heat, my mind in a frenzy of the fight I sensed. I really hoped I wouldn’t get there to late, but the base was quite a bit away, so I might. Aww, that would suck. Suck like a bad whore.
I heard the sounds of my men behind me, their thick breathing and heavy footsteps. I knew they wanted to turn back into wolves, for that was always the quicker way to travel, no wasn’t it? But no, if they changed to much, the powder would wear off, and then I would have to beg her for more. That was one thing I really didn’t want to do. I was running out as well. Maybe Terrel could get me some? He did like Faolan, and since me and him were on ‘good terms’….I’m sure he could hook me up with some. I was running out. I didn’t want to lose control again. But then again, it was nice to lose yourself to the beast that you became when you transformed once in a while.
I heard a man let out a grunt, and I looked back, agitated. “Come on, come on. We only have a few more miles.” I snapped, my voice piercing them like a dull dagger being thrust through someone’s stomach.
I saw his body let out a shudder, either out of fear or the effort of hurrying up, and the young boy took a few quick steps, rejoining the group. The thing noobs hated most about joining the werewolf clan was, one, having that soy-sauce looking concoction shoved in your veins and two, living out in the middle of the desert.
But you know what, if they wanted to have this gift, then they had to learn how to suck it up when they were human and learn how to deal with pain.
I heard another grunt, and my eyes fixated on that boy again, lagging behind, and I got pissed.
Alexander
I fell behind going to the base. I was just so tired, so damn tired.
But Jeremiah got mad. He doesn’t like when people slack off.
And I slacked of. It was a good thing I wasn’t so attached to my life.
Because I no longer have it anymore.
Now I just have a sword through my stomach.
Faolan
A few hours of wandering through darkness with a half-dead girl on your back is not fun. The walls start to close in on you, the darkness becomes suffocating, the whole place feels like its going to collapse on you.
I don’t want to run to hurry up, for I think the girl is asleep, and I don’t want to wake her. But I’m sick of seeing the darkness, and I just want to find the door that leads back up the surface. But no, it has to be such a long tunnel, a door here and there leading somewhere…suspicious. Somewhere I don’t want to know. Things used to be done down here, things that only the insane could handle. And I liked being sane.
Another hour. I think I am lost. I thought it was a clear shot, but now I am thinking maybe there was a passage branching off that I missed. Will we be down here forever?
Thump thump thump.
Not again, please not again. You can hold it down this time, can’t you? Of course you can. Just ignore it. Focus on the goal, the door, the battle, the red hair, the-
Another hour. How much longer? I thought it was only a few miles. Did the tunnel get longer, or am I just- Stairs. Finally. A weak light shined ahead, barely visible, my keen eyes hardly managing to pick up the faint, dusty staircase not to far ahead. It winds up in a single column of wrought iron to the sandy surface. We would need to find a city soon, or some place to rest, though I was unsure how far away that would be. She was confused, shocked, probably mentally instable, and I was exhausted, and I knew that when I was human again, she would have to help me move. I trotted up the stairs slowly, watching where I placed my large paws on the small steps, and nosed open the door. It wouldn’t budge at first, the sand refusing to shift, but after I put more force on it, and eventually using the top of my head, the sand slipped off and the girl and I were showered with heat, sunlight, and dusty particles.
