Lights Out

When Dragon sent her to her quarters, Shalimar was upset. For the moment, she was sitting on her bed playing Radiata Stories and was wondering why she had chosen to go the human path when the human side of the game was horrible.

"That son of a b***h silver dragon," Shalimar murmured after a character--a silver dragon--had just killed the female lead character. "I'm going to kick it's a** with this human...even if it is only a human."

Suddenly, the lights went out in her quarters. Even the game. "Damnit! Nerissa, what the hell?!"

No response came from the ship's AI.

"Nerissa?" Shalimar asked.

Still no response.

On alert, Shalimar looked about. She did not need lights to see as her draconic eyes made the darkest night as bright as noon on a cloudless sunny day. Hearing her door swish open then close, Shalimar exited her bedroom into the living room where the entrance to her room was--she was not able to see the door from her bedroom--but there was no one there.

Flicking her ears and flaring her nostrils--to catch the sound or smells of any intruders--Shalimar said, "Who's there?"

Assignments & Setting off

When Rose's group offered their services, Dragon said, "Good! Let's see...Taran, take Defense. Rose, you and your bug--if it stays quiet and doesn't touch anything--help Wynn with weapons. Niko, Tuli, and Jaa go to Science Deck 3 and lend some ideas to Ikkit and the others. ANTIE-D, assuming you're like Nissa and automatically volunteered when Rose did but just didn't say anything...can you stand watch outside Shalimar's room? Make sure no one enters--or leaves for that matter. I'm placing Security Ordinance 9813 on Shalimar until further notice."

"Okay everyone," Dragon said, turning to leave for the bridge, "you know your jobs, let's get going!"

Panic

Oh s**t she knows! Wynn thought. She concealed her reaction from Dragon though. As Dragon left the room before her, Wynn looked at the others and made an obvious motion to keep quiet.

"Did I miss something?" Xangord asked.

"Oh, nothing!" Holly said cheerfully.
