What is courage?
What I see courage as may be how another person sees it. Courage isn't what comes to you and makes you take action in a certain situation (whether it be an emergency or just a spur of the moment thought). Courage can't be taught, can't be given away.
The real test of courage shows itself in our everyday lives.
Courage takes a good role in our everyday lives. Being able to go up, and take a stand in what you believe in requires courage. Being able to speak in front of a crowd, or even just your class, requires courage. The kid who breaks an arm playing a game, but goes back to playing as soon as they're healed shows courage. Getting bitten by a shark, only to return to the beach a week later shows courage.
The person who is adamant about following their dreams shows courage.
But most of all, being able to speak the truth. Because everyone knows that a lie is used to hide the big cowards we are. :3
People often speak of courage as a verb. Courage in the battle field, courage in helpless situations. Courage when facing devastation, or natural disasters. (Hurricane Katrina anyone? Loma Prieta earthquake? )
But courage is more than that, I think. Courage isn't just a name that you use to cover up being brave in a situation. It's not something that can be tossed around loosely. "I was courageous because I went on a roller coaster!".
It's feeling fear, recognizing fear, and still going on to do what you believe is right. 3nodding
