My report for the star spangled banner
Francis scott key wrote the star spangled banner as a poem after seeing the attack in Maryland by British ships in Cheseapeake baby during the war of 1812. The tune was to the song "To anacreon in heaven" the poem became a well known american patriotic song. It was reconized when it was useed in the navy in 1889 and by the president in 1916. It became the national anthem theme on March 3, 1931. The song has 4 verses but only the 1st is commonly sun today, the 4th is sung on more formal occasions. The song has been translated in Germany, Yiddish, French, and Samon, the third verse was also translated in Latin. The national anthem is commonly played on sport games and formal events nowadays
