I’ve read numerous rants, petitions, spam posts, ect. and I believe that it’s my turn to rant about the tax.

Before I begin, I shall say that I am not flipping from one side to the other! I’m completely against gaia on this occasion, but I like to look at all sides of the story.

First off, I shall start with you fellow gaians. Listen, I understand that gaia is nothing without us, but it is also nothing without gaian staff, is it not? Face it, this site is nothing without them, so maybe, just for once, they’re doing something to help us? It’s a tad childish to whine about something that just doesn’t go your way, every time they change something. Granted, there were some mature people, who calmly voiced their opinions. Those people are not the ones I’m talking about; I’m talking about the people who cussed, spammed, flamed, ect. ect. just because of this. There is really just no point in it.

We are mere members of gaia, whether you like it or not. We did not create it, nor do we help run it, therefore, we have no say in what the staff does. There are some things, though, that they do consult us on, but rarely want our opinions. Gaia is a business, and will stay that way. The website is called http://www.gaiaonline.com and that means that it is owned by someone. We’re lucky enough its free, let’ not push our luck.

Now, to you, gaia.

This was a truly dumb choice. I’ve read what you have to write, and I still do not see how this helps. The Hair Saloon is a gold sink, and a good one at that. Everyone who wants a decent avatar goes there, and now you’ve just added new hairstyles. There is also the Tattoo Shop, another great idea - though I do not use it - that many people like. Why not make more shops such as these? You could make contacts, piercing, heck, even something like plastic surgery or a weight loss clinique, but a tax?! Study your middle school Social Studies, people, ever heard of “No taxation without representation”? This may be a mere online site, but a tax is still wrong.

Besides the “moral” view on this, it is still wrong. I make much of my gold from mere junk items, so how much gold will I get if I sell something for 1g? I don’t want a decimal! If I wanted to do math, I’d be studying instead of spending two hours a day on this website!

And yes, sometimes I feel as if you belittle us gaians, but I expected as much. Gaia is still a great website despite the downhill slope it’s on. Maybe you will realize that you’re falling down the hill, but until then, you’re going to lose loyal gaians, and I don’t think you want that. Those gaians help balance out the site, because if not for them, you would get less money, we would be filled with idiotic n00bs, and even more people would leave. “People may be leaving but more people are coming!” Is that how you think of it? I surely hope not.

And that concludes my rant. I suppose I’m not too unhappy with this, because I just naturally adjust easily to change, but to you others out there, I know you’ll complain for a while. Heck, maybe if you keep it up gaia will take the tax away. That would be nice.
