The fall concert for choir couldn't have turned out any worse. We were stuck on the set for the fall play, which, as usual, was poorly constructed, echoed every step we took across the stage, and just plain looked bad. I got stuck next to someone who obviously didn't practice, and she made me screw up my favorite part of the song just we girls were doing.
Nobody noticed, though. Nobody probably even remembers what songs my class did, or how we sounded. It seems like half the concert was our advanced-class choir singing what could rightly be called "Ode to My Dying Siamese Cat". ...alright, it wasn't that bad. It was this strange little new age piece that was made up of all sorts of humming, chanting, echoing nasal sounds...basically everything our director warned my class not to DO while we're singing. I think my father had it right when he said "I think that song would have been better in its original Vogon." whee
It wasn't so bad, though. There's this bass in the advanced group who's kind of cute, and he's the best singer in the whole choir, too. heart (Then again, I'm not going to make the mistake of getting a massive unrequited crush on the most talented person again. I learned my lesson with THAT when I was in drama and got obsessed with the best actor. ...this plan failing, I just won't let word get around...) And it was funny trying to make out what they were singing. My classmates sitting next to me were blurting out what they thought it could possibly be. I managed to keep myself composed when they started chanting "Nair, Nair, no more hair", but as soon as someone said "knuckle hair" I got a mad case of the church giggles. You know, when you're supposed to be quiet, but you can't keep yourself from laughing?
I managed to keep it down, though. Even if I hadn't, I doubt I'll be in as much trouble as the girl who brought the air horn in her purse. She honked it when we were all cheering for the show choir. Can you believe it? An AIR HORN. After we were specifically told not to shout and yell like this were a sports event. I'm almost looking forward to finding out how bad we're going to get yelled at tomorrow. sweatdrop
