~The 60s, alternate history...

Leaders from the western coalition of nations and the Soviet Union meet in Germany, agreeing to tear down the wall and to reunite east and west as allies. From this point, scientific and military buildup on either side merge, and the east and west develop and grow hand in hand.

2025, August fifth...

Soviet physicist Nikolai Aleksander and English engineer Hugh Mercer watch their newly built PLYMOUTH II spacecraft break free of Earth's atmosphere, carrying several hundred scientists and crewmen into space. In about a month, PLYMOUTH II would land on Mars, and the first frontier outpost would be established in the Hellas Planitia region. This would be known as the first benchmark of humanity's voyage outward, and the beginning of a new era.

The early 24th Century...

It has been more than three-hundred years since mankind took its first steps into the stars, colonizing alien worlds and stretching even further outward. The human race is still divided into two cooperating halves: The former western nations, now called the Allied Republic Colonies, and the reformed Soviet Union, still going by its original name. These two unions have kept a firm pact with each other, though over the ages, nationalist groups on either side have risen.

The 2350s...

In a shocking turn of events, a group of extreme nationalist-conservative politicians have taken office in the central ARC Government. President Daniel Archer, recently elected from the Republican party and beginning his eight-year term, has installed many anti-communist doctrines within the Allied Colonies, and has made threats of invasion to the Soviet Union. Despite many attempts to reason with the ARC, Premier Grigori Korolev has countered these doctrines within the Soviet Union, thus plunging mankind- who's extent reaches into the farthest corners of the galaxy- into a new Cold War.

All the treaties and agreements between east and west were, from this point in time, shattered. Nationalism rose again, and took hold of mankind, destroying the hard-earned peace. The ARC's vast military force has begun its advance onto recently-established Soviet borders, as the Red Navy fortifies its position behind the new Iron Curtain and prepares to launch a counter-attack. Without doubt, this flare will ignite the largest and most terrible war humanity has ever seen.

It has been two centuries since the last real war erupted. In such time, it has evolved, and has become more brutal and efficient, as nations utilize newfound technology to wage war in ways never imaginable, from fleets of massive warships in space, to walking, gun-bristled death machines planetside. The battle for true human domination, the war to end all wars, has begun.~
