Day Nineteen- Mmmm.........chicken.
I am offended, so if you don't want to hear my cynical rantings go away. Today I saw a new story on a San Diego business that lets people rent a dog for a day or two a week. The program is aimed towards people who don't have enough time to own a dog full time. The dogs are rented out like timeshares, and the woman who started the company (which now has one location with 10 dogs) is going to expand to New York and London by the end of the year. When the dogs aren't being rented out, they stay in kennels. I've gotta say this is very high on the list of bad ideas. These dogs are never in the same place for more than a day, and that's not a good life for them. Also, if you can't take care of a dog for more than one day you shouldn't have a dog at all. But thing that pisses me off the most is that these animals, who should be in a good home with a family, are being treated like playthings for those who have the money to rent them out. And what happens if one gets sick? What happens when they get old? They'll probably get sent straight to the pound! This business should be shut down, and the idiot who runs it shouldn't be allowed to come within fifty feet of a dog ever again.
