One day my Mother held my hands
and looked into my eyes
"I followed you this morn" she said
Just before sunrise.
I know you love the fairies,
I saw you stand and stare
I love you child with all my heart,
but you must be aware.
The fairy clan are lovely,
The way they dance and sing,
But you must never get too close
To a fairy ring.
For if they draw you near to them,
a mortal child they'd own.
And once inside the fairy realm,
You never can come home.

For many days I stayed away,
I tried as best I could.
Until one day that fairy sprite,
Beckoned from the woods.
I knew I shouldn't go there,
I knew I shouldn't stray,
But the beauty of her voice
Carried me away.
And once inside the fairy ring,
I knew that I would be
Forever in this wonderous realm,
On wings made just for me.
Although I miss my family
and think of them each day
I've always known, this is my home,
And this is where I'll stay.
