woot another day at the fine arts center! 2 people didnt show up for the class tho -not a good idea thinking on how you paid for it in the first place- so pretty much it was just the 4 older guys and the other High School girl(the one in Photo class#2 who didnt develop film right) lets see . Today it was pretty much dedicated to ::::drum roll::: doing contact sheets! huray! Before the demo had started one of the older guys was trying "small talk" and asked me where I went to school.Somehow I said we didnt have any school today and he said something about Columbus day and laughed-but I really hadn't heard him, so i laughed too. O_o It seemed weird some how..... Well, first we all went into the dark room to see the demo on doing the contact sheets(maybe I'll type that somtime for all you people to see) . When she was finished she set us all loose to do our own thing. So, I started setting up and then the guy on the enlarger next to me said, "here I'll read you your instructions," or something like that. Man that was weird!Maybe he thought that I couldn't really read English xd which I do (I'm in high school afterall!) or that I couldn't see in the darkness of the dark room lol. So the guy read it and I suddenly felt like he was telling me a story around the camp fire lol. Also the damn photo paper wouldn't open for me stressed -I had to use the "storytellers" pocket knife which was the size of mid pinky up-and not that sharp either. It took me awhile to find the right time to expose my contact sheet to light because something was wrong with my negative edges( thats what we were determining the time with) so i was pretty much the last person to finish doing that. sweatdrop OO! I got to use that rotating door to get in and out of the dark room . If you've seen the movie Man Hunter than its the round looking rotating thing that they use in some scenes (yea that wasnt very descriptive). Blah one of the other guys freaked me out 2 times! actually the more i think about it, it seems more funny! Well, the light differences between the dark room and going through the rotating door freaks out my eyes soo, when I was going thru the door it rotated to the other opening and all I saw was this tall black figure infront of me , I was lik,"GAH!" My eyes adjusted and i saw it was that guy that i had talked to before the demo lol!! So i got out of his way and went looking for the teacher in this room. A few minutes later when i was leaving that room i went out the door and turned then-BAM! there was the same guy! lololol I went "GAH!" laughed and went back to the dark room. I still had a roll of 400 TMAx to develop also so when the contact sheet was finally done i went into the room and asked the teacher when i could do that (it was 5:30 and class ends at 6). The "story telling guy" also had to do that also (he had 400 TMAX also) Bleh! what ended up happening was we both had to develop our films together. This meant that we both had to go into the cramed (if you have a non walkin closet then imagine shoving 2 semi skinny people with a lil space inbetween them and you have the size of that room) film room. In this lil room you have to open up your film manualy with a -manual- can opener cut off some of the begining then spin it onto a roll ,this is all done in complete darkness. So me- high school sophmore high schooler- and the "story teller" -older guy in his maybe high 30ths?- cram into this lil room. man i thought it was soooooooooo weird. Pretty much he was doing the talking,"so where'd you get your pictures?" "blah" and some other things. It felt like it took forever! And i was having problems spining the film on the reel! I also dropped my film on the ground i was like "s**t!" and he was like "ah! what happened?!" He thought i stabbed myself with the scissors.lol at least i know he's not all self centered. BUT the bad thing about this is that the room had some light leaking into it . and my film fell right into that puddle of light! oh well guess we'll see how that comes out! I evenutally finished before he did 3nodding . so i was waiting and he had stoped talking so it was all akward lol. he finally finished and we were outta there, labeled the canister with the films in them and left at around 6:14 -i think.BTW MAN IT WAS HOT IN THERE! I was burning up! He mentioned something about body heat and the size of the room , BUT STILL GOD I WAS BURNING!!
