Ramblings, writings, and poignant pieces on the differences between Sprite and 7up
The love that you need will never be found at home~
/Bronski Beat Lyrics

^Good band. <3

In any case, I was reading a thread (on a different site) about being young and pregnant, and how young is too young, etc. Well, one kid said that "before you're married is too young".

I disagree, but it got me thinking about all those people who encourage (or damn near force) the couple to get married, if the girl is young and pregnant.

Because being young taking care of a child while dealing with your loss of childish freedom isn't hard enough without a forced marriage and almost guaranteed anger and resentment. biggrin

Though I understand why people believe that you should be married before you have a child...it's still not a guarantee...but it often helps. And there's been many a long night and crazy day where I've wished that my daughter's father would help, even just a little. I know better by know to put any faith into those wishes by now, and think of them more along the lines of when I wish for unicorns to carry me away into far off lands for magical adventures you only find in books. It's a nice thought, but it's not happening (which is glaringly obvious every time she needs new clothes, or wants to do silly things like, y'know, eat).

My disagreement begins with the often partnered belief that if you don't get married first, or choose not to be married first, that that is somehow a terrible crime. It's not, y'know. And it's definitely not like my daughter is lacking positive male influences. Namely my boyfriend, Colt. He's been in her life for the past year, and adores her, and it's mutual...often times when I bring him to my house, I get passed up so she can greet him. xd

But I've gotten off track.

My original point is, even though there's better odds with some options in life, it doesn't mean that everything else is the wrong choice and will end in disaster. It doesn't work like that. Sometimes you make a choice with low odds, and even though you don't end up with your fairy tale ending immediately, who cares? Endings aren't supposed to happen so early in the story anyway. <3
