YAY! Finally i added chapter five!!!!
Chapter 5 “Okay Mom! I’m going out!” I screamed loud enough for mom o hear. I looked at max who was sitting on the couch, “You want to come?” “No, I think I should stay here and watch mom.” I looked at him then we both laughed. “Okay, ill be back soon.” I opened the door and raced down the driveway. I couldn’t wait to get a new book. I walked just a little out of the driveway when I saw the boy I had seen playing in his back yard. He was taking out the trash. I stopped to look at him. He lifted his head to me and smiled. It was a warm welcoming smile. “Hey. You are new neighbor?” “Yeah, how did you guess?” We both laughed. “Well I saw you in that house yesterday.” “I saw you, too. Playing with some one younger in your back yard.” “Yep, my brother, Tom.” He swung the trash down to the ground. “And my name is Josh.” He stuck his hand out for me to shake it. I looked at him for a couple of seconds. I admit I was panicking because I did not know what to do. But then I noticed that he wanted me to shake his hand so I did. “My name’s Kim.” “Oh, That’s not a name you see every day.” “What do you mean?” “Well I just don’t know any Kim’s.” We both laughed again. “So you were going in town?” “Yes actually I am. But since you know I’m new I don’t know where the library is or if there’s one at all.” “Oh yeah. Its… How ‘bout I just show you?” “That would be great.” “Okay let me go tell my mom I’m going out.” He jogged up to his door and went inside. I looked up at my house you could just barley see my window. I looked at it. Then I almost fell over Joshes mailbox. In my window stood a black figure of the girl who’s been tormenting me ever since I got here. If she is real why is she doing this to me? I looked hard at her then I saw that instead of just looking out the window she was looking at me! “Okay lets go!” Josh was jogging back down the driveway. We started walking when I looked back and saw the girl in the window had disappeared. I turned back to Josh who was silently looking down. “Hey Josh?” “Yeah.” He turned his head towards me with a smile on him face. “Who lived in the house that I live in?” “The Brooks.” He looked back down at the ground. I could tell some how that question hurt him. “Who are the Brooks?” “Mrs. Ian, Mr. Jack, and… and Amanda. I looked at him as I walked. I could tell that Amanda was his friend or they were close. “Their uncle also lived with them but he was never really seen by me.” “Why did they move?” He looked at me with sad eyes. Hurt eyes. “I don’t like to talk about it.” “Okay.” I was a bit disappointed but also felt sorry for Josh. He obviously knew the people well. I thought about what he said for a minute then it suddenly hit me, and it hit me hard, Amanda was the girl I kept seeing! I stopped and looked at Josh. He stopped and looked back at me. “How did Amanda look?” He looked at me for a minute then smiled. “She had black hair, a warming smile, sometimes, but most of all she had dark kind eyes that always made me happy.” Dark eyes make you happy? I stared at him in disbelief. She was real. We kept walking, I tried not to look like I was startled. We finally walked into the library. “Thanks for bringing me here.” “You’re welcome. I got to get back home but I hope I’ll be seeing you around.” He raised his eyebrow at me telling me it was a question. “You bet.” “Good.” He turned out the door and out onto the street. I watched him till he was all the way down the street. He was so cute with his broad shoulders and his nice face. I did hope I would see him again.
“Hard rain. Do you have some one picking you up? The voice startled me. I looked at the librarian then back to the road. “No unfortunately not. I guess I better run for it when it lets up a little.” “I wonder if it will even let up at all.” “I sure hope so.” He gave me a warm smile then turned back to his work. I watched him for a moment then looked to see if the rain let up. It hadn’t. I waited, and waited.
Around an hour of waiting it let up to a spry. “Okay, here’s my chance. Bye. You’ll be seeing me here a lot.” “Oh goody. See you next time then.” I ran out side and down the street. I then noticed that this was a very empty town no cars no people out playing or walking. I felt lonely. It started raining hard again but it didn’t really bother me. I finally walked up my drive way and into the house. No one was in the front rooms. I walked up the stairs and heard voices coming from Max’s room. I looked into the room and Max and mom were on the floor playing a board game. I smiled. “Hey, I’m back.” “What took you so long?” Max looked up at me. “Why? Did you miss me?” “No.” I laughed as I walked down the hall. “Got stuck in town by the rain.” I shouted so he could here me in his room. I sat my new book on the bed and took off my shoes. I walked around my room doing things. Every now and then would look out to see if Josh was out playing, but I kept forgetting that it was raining.
“Rum-di-dum-du-du-dum, da-da-dum-dum-dum, Rum-di-dum-du-du-dum…” “What are you humming?” “Huh? I don’t know. Its just stuck in my head.” “Well it’s annoying.” I looked at Max, and giggled. I started singing the tune again to annoy him. “Dinner! Come and get it.” “Thank God! And stop singing that tune over and over again.” “I don’t even know what it is.” Again I started singing the tune. I truly didn’t know where I heard it.
“Rum-di-dum-du-du-dum, da-da-dum-dum-dum.” I sat in my bed reading my new book humming the same old song. I just could not seem to remember where I heard it. “Still humming that song?” The voice started me until I saw my mom in the doorway. “Oh, yeah.” I looked up at her and watched her walk over to sit on my bed. “Are you okay?” “Yeah. Why?” “I don’t know, you just seem to be unhappy. But, I did see you out side this morning with that boy. What’s his name?” I looked up at her surprised she saw me with him. “Josh.” “Oh, that’s a nice name.” She tilted her head. “You looked a bit startled though.” I looked at her trying to remember when that was, then I remembered Amanda looking at me. “I just saw something then saw it wasn’t, as it seemed.” “What?” “Um,” I tried to think of something fast, “his brother was in the back yard, and he was throwing the ball, and I thought he was throwing it at me.” “Oh. Okay. Good night.” She kissed my head and left. Close one. I put my bookmark in then walked over to the light. I shut it off with out even thinking. I lay in bed and sung the song again. “Rum-di-dum-du-du-dum…” “Da-da-dum-dum-dum.” Another voice replied.
