Ah, its been a long day... They all seem long nowadays, but most thankfully uneventful. My leg still hurts like a b***h; but if I don't move it too much, I can kind of forget about it. Its a pain not to be able to get around very well, but you gotta do what you gotta do, right?
I've been thinking a lot about things... I seem to do that whenever I can't get my hands on some work. It doesn't usually bode well for me; but at least this time its nothing too serious...yet.
I can hardly believe my son has a girlfriend already. It seemed like only last week I was reading him bedtime stories and worrying about his first days at school... How time flies.
He's healing a lot faster than I am though. Got his old man's metabolism; and top that off with his youth...hell, if it was his leg that broke, he'd be doing sprints by now.
Anyway, back on point...
I was a little shocked when he told me...especially when I found out it was his lifelong friend. I mean, it makes sense...I can understand a kid falling for the one friend thats always been there; but it still caught me off guard. Admittedly, I'm worried.
Not so much about her, but about her father... I'm not sure if he's caught word of their budding relationship, but when he does, I'm sure its not going to go over well with him. He never did much like the idea of my kid even being friends with his daughter. He'll flip... I just hope he doesn't decide to take it out on me or the boy.
Best case scenario; nothing notable happens, and I can just hear good things about it from now on... But chances are thats not going to happen. Realistically the best course for the future would be that they realize it was just a little infatuation and he can find himself a girlfriend without a father apt to tear my head off about it.
I wonder what my wife will think of it... But thats for another time, I suppose.
