My Non-Existant Journal
When the teachers go away, the students all come out to play
Today’s been pretty interesting so far. This morning, I had an orthodontist appointment, so I got to sleep in a bit and miss zero hour French class (and a vocab test). So I got to my high school about twenty minutes before first period, hung around with a friend, got a Frappicino, and chatted about the teacher strike. See, the thing is, yesterday the school sent out letters about how the teachers were going on strike for better pay, but my friends and I figured that most of our teachers weren’t going to join the strike because we go to this college-prep school thing and our teachers take their classes pretty seriously (translation: they dump a crapload of homework on us and give us an inordinate number of tests each week).

So I went to first period English, and the door was closed and locked. I had at least thought that our English teacher would be there, since she had lesson plans for the day and she seems like the type who’d never miss school for something like a strike (she’s really cool, but her class isn’t exactly easy). It quickly became apparent that almost all the teachers had left, and the students were pretty much wandering around the halls on their own while the faculty tried in vain to gather us in the cafeteria. A few of us (myself included) went to get our pictures taken for the yearbook while the rest of my friends went to the computer class (there was a substitute in that class, at least) to play games. We joined up eventually, hung around and enjoyed the chaos running rampant in the school, and went to the cafeteria to sign in so we wouldn’t have an unexcused absence. The principal told us we had to stay in the cafeteria, but she disappeared after a while, and we called our parents to see if they’d excuse us from school. My mom did, and I got a ride with a friend back home. And tomorrow’s the weekend, so I don’t have to go back to school tomorrow. blaugh

Today was just as good (or maybe even better) as the time the school announced a snow day because there was two inches of snow on the ground (I live in the desert, so any snow at all is pretty amazing).

So now I’m at home, and I just spent an hour playing Kingdom Hearts II for the second time and building a Gummi Ship shaped like a zebra. It’s pretty awesome. I had originally intended for it to be a llama, but it turned into the GS Flying Zebra! because it wasn’t tall enough and I had the striped patterned skin anyway. It has good power and speed and everything, but the offense isn’t that great because I spent most of the cost on material gummies (it takes a lot to build a zebra). I’m so proud of my zebra ship. <3
