Hi there, I prefer to just be called N.For those who are thinking that it is because of Death Note, you are partially right, but it is also what people call me for short.
I am not new to this site, so don't let my starter outfit deceive you. I just happen to like the look of the new inexpensive items. ^_^
I am primarily creating this account to give feedback/ critiques on selected works that I happen to see in the arena. I feel that the arena is lacking that honest critique (not in all cases, but most). Saying something is 'good' is fine and dandy in La-la land. But saying why you think something is good helps the artist understand what works well in the image. On that note, the other thing is that people are far too gentle. I don't mean that in a overly bad way though when I say this. I would hate to have someone constantly tell me something looked good when it in fact did not. Do not be afraid to say that something isn't quite right in the image... but remember to state why, this again will help the artist to understand what they need to improve on.
At the same time, people need to remember that just because the person critiquing you may not draw doesn't mean that their voice matters less. I have had some of my greatest critiques with non-drawing instructors. You don't have to draw well to critique someone else's drawings.
So I am not posting there to get 'first post' or 'free gold'; my hope in giving longer critiques would be to assist the artists to further develop their skills.
Mind you, you don't have to take my critique as law either. Remember... everyone has a different style and different preferences... so please try to keep in mind that a critique isn't attacking you as a person... the critique opens a dialogue around your work. So even if you get a harsh or tough critique don't get discouraged, work harder to achieve your goal. :D
