I entertain myself by blowing fountains of salty seawater straight into the air. I don't mind too much that it gets on my face or in my eye--I'm already sopping wet and wrinkly like an overly dried grape. In other words, a raisin. However, my friends aren't so happy.
"Eek! Snow, stop spitting stuff at us!"
"I'm not!" Just to spite them, I squirt a mouthful in the general direction of the voice. I suppose I missed, for no sound comes from that direction.
"Man..." someone complains. "Isn't there something we can do?"
"It's hecka dark."
"Hecka?"
"Yeah, hecka."
"Salt-water has squelched that gray matter in your head into a formless mass."
"No, it hasn't."
"Eh, whatever. This is horrible."
"No it's not!" I chime in. "It's so fun! Let's floooooattttt!"
Rampage affirms that with a squeak. Probably cuz it's all high and dry up on my head. Purposely, I splash a wave of icy cold water on my headgear.
"EEeeeeeeeeeee!!!" It squeaks and begins to pull on my hair. I'm beginning to regret it, actually, because now my head's feeling soggy.
"Man, I'm glad that wasn't me," someone mutters.
----------
By now, dawn has risen. I can tell because the sky's a grey, and the edge is tinged with yellow. Suddenly, I have a really bright idea.
"Hey, guys! GUYS! Wake up! I have an idea!"
"One that's gonna kill us, you mean?" Des spits out a mouthful of seawater.
I glare at him, and Adri, YYugi, and Chibi-bunni collectively snicker. Anyway. I clear my throat, then announce what I have to say.
"The sun rises in the east, sets in the west, right? If we know what direction we came from, we can go back now that we have a way..."
"But we don't know," says Fae matter-of-factly.
"We could swim until we found which way, I suppose. Better than staying here," says Nerfe.
"And hitch a ride on Sar if we get tired. She's the swimmer, after all!" Yunsi proclaims cheerfully.
"No." Sar's answer makes it apparent that she didn't realize that it was a joke.
"Well, come on, then. As Nerfe said, anything's better than...well, here."
So we swim...and swim...and dog-paddle...and swim...and swim...and float...and swim...and swim...and tread...
"You guys, we aren't getting anywhere," someone groans. I don't care to open my eyes to see who. After all, we're all feeling the same way. Muscles are sore and tired, mouth all dry, and our faces peeling with sunburn. Lovely.
"We're going in circles."
"Do you think--"
"Yowch!"
I turn at the sudden exclamation. Adri's spluttering in the water with a pained expression on her face.
"You okay--Owwie!" Fae cries out as well.
Soon, the ocean is filled with Owies-and-Ahhs as we prance along the water. It feels as if something is chewing on our toes.
"Whaaahaah!"
"Help me!"
"I'm being eaten alive!"
"My poor body can't take anymore TORTURE!!!"
Quite suddenly, I scratch my foot on something hard and rough. Not caring what it is, I paddle awkwardly over. I reach out with my hands to touch it and find out what it is, but it seems as if the others have.
"Land! Land! Land HO!"
"Gah! My poor toes have become ribbons of blood." Dx
"Mine too. You think the fishies thought they were human-flavored raisins or something?"
"Eww...please."
"On the topic or raisins...I'm kinda hungry."
"Yah, swimming does that to a fellow, you know."
I wince at the sand on my feet, then trip and fall. Gritting my teeth, I'm about to plop down beside my friends when a voice calls out from behind the rock.
"Hey! It's fresh water!"

Author's Notes:
Ohh~ Just thinking about it makes my toes hurt. Dx Glad that hasn't happened before.
Have fun reading. Seems like an adventure's coming up. It's like... instead of "The Adventures of Ulysses/Odysseus", it's "The Adventures of the LO." xPP
Okay, time to get back to my essay. More writing. T________T
