Uncle Tom's Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe shows how slaves were treated and how white people delt with this kinda stuff~
Stowe was against this slavery thing and so she wrote this book which got published before the civil war.
Some people think Stowe's book was one of the reasons the civil war happened.
I think it was too, I mean, after you read this book, common sense just hits you and makes you think how stupid we are to hate certain people becuase of color or what they think or how they act~
And it also shows how slavery was wrong and disagreed with the Bible and U.S. Constitution alike.
I'm glad my mom told me to read it, she (my mom) and Harriet Beecher Stowe both helped me to see that the world wasn't as I thought it was and this kinda makes me sad to see this prejudice (ooh I dislike saying that word) still exists...
It hurts at times when I open my eyes to this real world I don't like it, I liked living in my world where I thought everything and everyone was good and even if they weren't they could be good... I guess I was wrong...
I guess one needs to these things in order to help people and accept things~
