The Ian Bar and Grill was very full on the night of New Years 2K6/7. It seemed that a large part of the Gino Harem had decided to come over as well; more the merrier, right? That was exactly what Rina Lee was thinking as she saw a large group of Ginoites wander in the door, led by the owner of this fine establishment, Jayce Reinhardt. Rina had opted to play DJ for the party; she had a little experience as one, and thought that this might, just might, help with that brilliantly devious plan she had been working on. All she was waiting on was…
A loud collective fangirlish shriek erupted as the man of the hour walked in the front door. “IAN!!!!!!!” A large group of women gathered around the shopkeeper, missing in action for so long. “Perfect~” Rina said quietly. Ian tried his best to quiet the girls down, and when he failed, he scanned up past them toward the DJ to help. When Ian's eyes met Rina's she stopped the music, as she did, the crowd grew worried and confused finally quieting down. “Thank you Rina. Ahem, may I have the attention of all of you in this establishment?” The ears of nearly everyone perked up, “I have an announcement to make. Seeing as it –is- New Years, I have a little surprise for all of you,” he paused for dramatic effect, [and it worked quite well; the eyes of every Ianite glowed in anticipation] “Every Ianite here is promised a dance with me! Hurry up to the DJ and put in your requests!!”
The crowd went wild! Rina noticed one face looking quite like a forced happiness. It was Jayce. She couldn’t help but feel bad for the guy; it was well known that, of all of the Ianites, Jayce loved Ian the most. However, it seemed that, because Jayce was also a man, he had no chance with the object of his affection. Jayce’s wife seemed to understand this and tried her best to make her husband happy. Though it was an arranged marriage they had come to like each other very much as friends. Rina didn’t know for sure if Ian was in fact strictly women but it really didn’t matter to her. Rina’s plan was coming closer to its end with every song and it would be the ultimate way to start off a new year for any fan. Mur finished her dance with Ian, and it was Elantis’s turn. Rina Lee turned on the requested song; everyone had written down what they wanted played, and she had had only fifteen minutes to gather the multitude of songs. Despite this Rina handled the stress with ease.
She had done it, of course. She slipped the ‘Phantom of the Opera’ CD in, and ‘Learn to be Lonely’ started playing. What a nice slow song…Rina sifted through the piles of requests to find Jayce’s. “Ah, ‘Sanctuary’…that’s a fast song. That won’t do~” As Rina tapped her chin thoughtfully while Elantis’s song played, “Child of the wilderness, born into emptiness, learn to be lonely…” When the song ended, Ian smiled down at Elantis, and kissed her on the forehead. She swooned, and was lucky that Jay was nearby to catch her as she fainted.
This will be a long night, Rina thought with mischief filled eyes, she put ‘Timewarp’ in for Anissina. After that song, Anissina was kissed on the forehead as well. She almost fainted, but caught herself, and walked woozily to the bar for something to drink. “Saichen! You’re up!~ Alright everybody, this one goes out to Saichen; ‘Crucify My Love!!~” Rina could see that ‘Ian’s Little Geisha’ was talking excitedly to Ian; she could make out the words ‘long hair’, ‘OMG’ and ‘fanfiction’; she laughed; Sai must have been talking about her journal entry! This song, too, ended with a kiss on the forehead, and it was Sway’s turn.
“A long, long time ago, I can still remember…” Sway curtsied to him, and they danced as well. “This'll be the day that I die…” Ian kissed her on the forehead; was this becoming a trend…? “Okay, that was rather ominous…~” Sway looked over indignantly, “It’s a classic! Leave it alone!” laughingly. “Okay then, Sway, I need you to take over. ‘My Heart Will Go On’~ It’s right there.~” Rina pointed, then made her way onto the dance floor. As the song played and they danced, she cleared her throat and made a request to Ian. He laughed, nodded his head, and Rina almost knocked him over with a tackle-hug. Ian burst out laughing as the song drew to a close, and she was rewarded with a kiss, on the forehead, of course.
Rina ran quickly up to the music controls, “Okay, it’s almost time for the countdown! Jayce, you’re up!~” A look of WTF disbelief covered the man’s paling face. He ran up to Rina in a panic, “What!?” he hissed catlike, “In case you haven’t noticed, Ian is straight!!” “Just go!~” Rina pushed him out onto the dance floor amidst his protests. “Okay, for the countdown, we have ‘Sanctuary’ by Utada!!~”Jayce masked a smile and readied himself for a fast dance with a flamingo pose, and was nearly floored when he heard the music start. It was the –sloooow- version. Oh, she is going to soo pay for this…he thought and his hand smacked his forehead. His heart was now completely on the line and he would make a fool of himself knowing he'd screw things up somehow.
As he began to dance with Ian. “I..Ian, I’m sorry. I know you don’t…uh…” Ian smiled at Jayce's obvious discomfort, “Its okay.” “No, it’s really not; I mean, you’re…” The two were silent for a while, “Wonk uoy naht noitceffa erom deen I..” “Okay, everybody, it’s time for the countdown!” “What’s left of me, what’s left of me now…” The song was almost over. “Ian, I…” Ian’s face grew serious as he gazed piercingly at the babbling redhead, “Jay, calm. . . down. I need to tell you something.” “FIVE!~” “Ian, this is …” “FOUR!~” “Jay?,” “THREE!~” “I swing,” “TWO!~” “both ways…” Ian whispered, his voice low and sensual as he moved his lips closer slightly teasing the other man, “ONE!~ HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!~” Jayce parted his nervous lips as Ian fully tasted him in a slow kiss and his face erupted in a blush as bright as his hair.
Happy New Year
indeed.
