My 17 1/2 yr old daughter showed up here, then the police showed up and wanted to take her away and to arrest me for having her. Apparently it is against the law to provide safety to your child if they are a run away, I'm suppose to put them out on the street and ignore them, or call the police on them.. (like I"m going to do that to any of my kids)
I was at work when this happened...then the police threatened to arrest my 70+ yr old mother for letting her granddaughter seek shelter in her house. eek My daughter kept telling the police how bad things were at her dad's and telling them that she refused to be returned there, meanwhile I was calling up everyone I knew trying to get help, and a friend told me that if my daughter demanded a local hearing before removal, and a social service interview with social services here, that they might not take her in.. so I called my mom back with the news, she passed it on to my daughter, my daughter made those comments, the police then called the "case worker and police" in the ex's part of Iowa, and both departments decided they didn't want her anymore... ( I think they were afraid that the truth will come out) So the police left her here and told her that the courts in Iowa will deal with my mother, me and her.
So I'm trying to enroll her in High school right now so that she doesn't flunk her junior year, but her dad has her school records blocked up in Iowa... sad My daughter told the police that even if the "people" in Iowa didn't want her anymore, she still wanted a local hearing and to talk with the local social services, and she was denied (they told her that they couldn't give her that unless she was still wanted by the police in Iowa and she wasn't) So now her life hangs in limbo. She only had the clothing on her back, so I scraped up every penny to buy her a few additional things that were on 75% clearance.. I'm taking her to the dentist on Tuesday, they took an initial look at her when her sister had an appt, and they told her (my younger daughter) that she couldn't get in soon enough to try and save her teeth either. (Found out that she has not been to the dentist in 3 years either, and her last visit 3 yrs ago, the dentist told her dad that she had some cavities that needed work as soon as possible)
I've also got her scheduled for a doctor apt and an eye exam, since she has that cyst on her eye. I also found out that she had a benign cyst on her neck 2 1/2 yrs ago that wrapped itself around her jugular and they kept that hidden from me as well. She almost died due to an allergic reaction to several of the meds they gave her when they operated and afterwards.. I wish I had health insurance. The money just gets tighter and tighter...but I have one of my kids back. My 15 1/2 yr old son is still missing, and my 11 yr old son is still stuck in that awful place, still being mistreated, neglected and abused.
