I'm tempted to go invest in an Ark. Holy Crap is it raining. My college class got cancelled today because of all the rain in Southern California. I was driving home from Pheonix, Az. yesterday after visiting my grandpa there. It normally takes about 5 to 6 hours on a good day without traffic, on the I-10. Well, yesterday, I spent *Drumroll* 2 and a half hours waiting in San Bernadino because the 215 was closed. I mean, they told us 1 mile before the closure that it was closed. Thanks, Cal-trans. A big '******** you' goes out to you, or whoever bothered to inform us travellers so late into the game, after it was too late to turn around. To make matters worse, some assholes kept trying to pass the stalled traffic on the right shoulder. Some nice truck from Texas in front of me kept pulling out just far enough to block the idiots from getting too far. If this sounds like one of you reading this, an eternal thank you. Anyway, so I finally get out of San Bernadino, luckily I know the area well enough to get around. *Thanks Renniassance Faire for that* And, lo and behold, half of the roads in Lancaster are flooded and closed. I come crawling back into Tehachapi at 7 last night when I should have been home by 4. Then, this morning, I get up to go to school, back in Lancaster, and the freeway's closed because of a mudslide! I take an alternate route, make it to school just before my only class of the day starts (Gotta love Mondays) only to find that class is cancelled. Peachy. I wish that there was some way to find out about cancelled classes before having to drive 50 miles to get to them.
Anyway, the week so far wasn't all bad. Last night I got my 7th letter from Zach. It came with presents! One was a bar off his BDUs, it's in digital camofaluge and it says MARINES on it. Best of all, it smells like him. heart Second, I got a little calander that counts the days until he gets back, including what he's doing every day. According to this, it's the first day of the second phase of riflemanship today. Yay. And I got a piece of paper with a whole bunch of Christmas carols he had to sing on it. Best of all, he gave me a website, Marinemomvisits.com, where some Marine moms came and gave him a Christmas stocking...and took his picture!! If you want to look, go to the website, under Winter 2004 Pictures, Under MRP3, and look for the redhead named Colvin. Well, I saved the picture and once it's edited, I'll have it in my signature. If any of you reading this belong to the Marine Moms, I love you. Anyway, so in the picture, I'm happy to say, he looks no different. Yes, I was worried that he'd become the scary, stereotypical Jarhead. He's not though, and I thank God for that. Well, that's really about it. Apart from worring that he won't pas his neurology examination on January 20th, I'm home free.
