A Journal That Clouds the Mind
Just my random thoughts about things. Some lyrics and even a story or two. Not for the faint of heart, you have been warned.
Sidetrack Comix 3
The back door to the Cyber Cafe creaked open slowly. Snow was pushed and compacted together against the outside wall as Fox stepped out and shut the door behind her. She leaned up against it, strangley out of breath. She rested her hands on her knees; puffs of white clouds accumulated from her warm breath. Snow was still falling around the city.
'I quit,' she thought. 'They don't pay me enough for this job anyways.' She wiped her brow with a freezing hand. In her rush she was unable to retrieve her jacket in her escape.
"Okay. Think for a sec. I can barely run, it's freezing outside, and a nutjob wants to kill me.... Ugh, Mondays." But apparently, ther was something wrong. Fox slid slowly from the metal door, falling forward into the pool full of snow. It was a dull THUD against the cold ground.
"... Damn," were her last words, her hand scraping against the snowy asphalt as she tried to get up. But she lost conciousness.

Inside.
"Where are you?" came a low voice. Shane was peeking into all the rooms, his gun pointed skyward, safety off and full of silver bullets. He finally came to the rear exit of the cafe but he paused at the door. There was snow on the inside of the frame and he thought for a moment. 'She's not stupid enough to go outside, is she?' Gun ready, he quickyl opened the door and aimed but his target wasn't standing like he had thought. Instead she was on the ground, almost covered in snow. Shane looked at her and sighed.
"Great."

*Back home*
Yo's room was dimly lit. The creaking of the slow turning fan was the only noise. Yo stood up straight and popped her back. She sighed.
"Phew! That wasn't so hard," she said happily and wiped her brow.
"Uh-oh." Her hand felt sticky and she looked to see blood on her hand. But she just shrugged it off and wiped her face and hands off into a towel nearby.

KNOCK KNOCK came a sound from the front door. Yo looked at her room door in question. A weak voice asked, "What is it?" She tossed the towel onto the ground.
"Nothing. Just go back to sleep." The cyborg did so and Yo stepped out into the hall. She sniffed the air then suddenly growled.
She ran down the hall and skidded to a stop, croched low to the ground, glaring at the front door.
"What are you doing here?" she hissed. There next to the front door stood Shane with a body in his arms. His face was red as he returned her glare.
"You're welcome," he muttered as he thoguht about dropping Fox's body right then and there.

END of First Book

Setting: In Fox's house

Fox woke up groggily, rubbing her eyes and blinking. 'Where am I?' she thoguht before sitting up. There she was surrounded by covers. Apparently she was in her own room. There was a dull throbbing pain in the back of her head and it was immensly hot in the room.

She exited her room, wearing nothing but her red robe; her black hair pulled to one side of her neck. She could smell of fire, probably the stove, and a familiar scent of something else.
It seemed that Yo was sitting on the kitchen floor, playing with something in her hands. 'Think, think!' Yo thought. 'I'm surrounded so I'll just have to stay cool.'
"Yo?" Fox asked as she came in through the doorway. Yo turned her head to see her.
"Oh, hey!" she greeted her. She didn't get up though. Fox could now see what was in her hand.
"What are you doing?"
"Uh. Oh well..." Yo trailed off. In her hand was a small doll with pins and needles.
"Can you tell me why my Vash the Stampede doll is emo?" Fox asked not really surprised. Yo loved to ruin her things. Yo panicked but suddenly pouted. Fox raised and eyebrow.
"Uh, you... Can't tell?"
"Tell, what?"
"It's supposed to be Shane," Yo said sadly. Fox's ears twitched at the mention of his name.
"Where is Shane?" she asked her, suddenly remembering what had happened. Yo seemed to hesitate before answering.
"...He's in the guest bedroom."
"...I see," Fox said in a serious voice. She stood up from her crouched position next to Yo then suddenly smiled.
"Hey. You're so cute." Yo froze instantly and her face became red.
"W-What?" she asked, turnign around but there was a sudden SMACK and POOF. Fox had kicked Yo in the head but there was only a cloud of smoke now.
"You know," Fox began. "I can smell your stench from a mile away." The coulds dispersed to reveal Shane. He had preformed the ancient art of transformation well... 'But-' Fox thought.
Shane winced but nothing more, his face still nuetral as he glared up at her.
"Is that the only reason you caught me?" he asked, wanting more information.
"Also. We have no guest bedroom. And your acting sucks."
Shane placed a gloved hand on top of her foot but made no tries to remove it from the top of his head.
Soon there came a small sizzling sound and smoke began to rise from his hand and her foot. Fox pulled back instantly, wincing.
"Ah! Is this how you treat the sick?" Shane only turned and stood up from his seating position and dusted himself off.
"No. Just you. Do you like it?" he asked raising his hands. "Silver padding." Fox grimaced.
"Yeah. It's just peachy." She leaned on her kitchen counter off the foot he had just burned.
"Remind me again why you're still in my house." Shane huffed and cracked his knuckles.

"I know you hate me and I just saved your life and all-"
"I would have survived," Fox snapped. Shane sighed.
"Yeah, whatever. But as much as I HATE to say this. ...We're snowed in."
Fox's eyes widened to saucers.
"WHAT?!"

I would have killed you right then and there.

As a hunter, I can't give you a loyal death. I have to do what I've got to do. Kill my enemies quickly.

    Whatev.
