Please correct me if I'm out of line here but, my best friend of over 20 years now, we dated for nearly six years - decided to go shopping for a COWBELL on my BIRTHDAY, (Not just any Birthday, a milestone age Birthday as well), rather than hang out with me.
We've been broken up a year now, we've had a good friendship since then. We talk everyday with each other - we've worked out some of our issues, and then he does this. . .
I wasn't asking for a ******** ring, I wasn't asking for something extravagant. I just wanted to sit down at the greasy spoon dinner we both like, and eat pretty much a Garbage Plate. It's 5 bucks a plate, drink included, and then go see the baby animals at a farm that's ******** free to go to. I'm such a
Time Spent kind of woman, where flashy things like jewelry and trips are nice but, just curl up with me and watch a movie - or go to the zoo, or go ******** running around a mall and try on shoes, (He's a shoe whore btw).
Then has the nerve to ask me if, "Something's wrong". Yeah, ******** - it's
YOU. Do you not understand how this is one of many reasons I ended the romantic relationship we had? Because, ya know - you were in town 3 of the six of my Birthdays but, made sure to be around so I could take you out for yours. Moved away for a year or more, chasing your career while I was meant to sit around here like a dope - hoping you'd land your dream job, we'd get married and put down roots.
Nah, Bro - I wanna be a gypsy and make sure you support me 100%, maybe then I'll THROW YOU A BONE.
So, I broke off the friendship. As much as it hurts to throw away over 20 years of knowing someone, it's just best for the both of us. I wish him well, and hope he finds some sort of happiness but, I'm done being a doormat.
