This Night
Has the night sky ever been this dark? Ebony so dark that all else vanishes. Cloak of mystic harmony, Lit by fireflies light. Bitter chill of falling leaves, Dry and dead as the once warm summers breeze. Chatter echoing whispers, Perhaps chattering teeth. All are disbelieving their own disbelief. The wind can be an arm upon the shoulder this night. A howling wind can entrance souls with fright. We allow the fear to devour, We sip the taste of death this night. Licking from our lips, Sweet death, fearfulness. We embrace our fear of drawing near, Nearer to absence. To the realm we created, And journeyed to from birth. Tonight we dance and praise the fear, Of our own hell on earth.
