OPTIMISM: You did the best you could possibly do but were fired because the company you worked for didn't properly appreciate your talent and dedication.
PESSIMISM: It was only a matter of time before you got fired anyway. No matter how hard you tried, they would have found someone who was inherently better than you.
REALISM: You busted your a** and were the most qualified for promotion. Hell, you were even being considered for it. Too bad you drank too many martinis at the office party and told your boss that his wife had great hooters.
IDEALISM: Your boss will realize that his wife was a whore and divorce her. In the spirit of male fellowship he will not only restore your job but promote you and the two of you will laugh over margaritas every time you casually nail his, now ex, wife.
