So, on Friday, I was making myself some lunch, slicing up a piece of salami, when I accidently cut right into mu finger. (I was nearing the end of the roll and I had no choice but to hold my finger there. In my defence I was going slowly, and I'll maintain that the knife got off-course.)
So, I'm bleeding big, thick drops of blood all over the place and the first thing I determine is "Call Zach." So...I reach for my (broken) cell phone, which for some reason only works on speaker phone mode right now. I call his number at work...the number which I've recieve the 'do not call unless you really have to' lecture about.
Well, I give the place a call, and I remain reletivly calm as I calmly ask for my husband. So, then he gets on the phone, and I'm all, "I cut my finger...." So, he tells me what to do, but the blood's still going everywhere. I think, 'he needs to get home to help me here.'
So, I hear him asking his Staff Sergeant if he can go home. And then, I get this,
"Honey...do you think you need stiches?"
I think to myself, 'well no s**t!'
But, instead I reply (Which I guess is amplified by the fact that I'm on speaker phone, inducing a yelling effect) "Oh course I need stiches! I wouldn't be calling you otherwise!"
So, since I accidently created a yelling effect, my husband's Ssgt. heard it, and promptly let him go home to me.
Oh the power of a woman in pain.
Anyway, he takes me and my bleeding, throobing index finger to the hospital, calmly telling me that I'm going to get a shot and then the doctor will stitch me up.
'That's not so bad,' I think.
Well, what he failed to mention was that the shot had to go into my cut, to numb it. ********. Owww.
After squirming and hurting, I realized that it didn't hurt anymore. So, the doctor stiches me up, all the while, Zach's got a half-comforting grasp, half pinning me down to prevent further squirming wrestling move going on with my head.
And after that, he needs to go back wo work for the rest of the day.
Luckily he got let out early.
