Shuffle Challenge: Zander and Felix
o1. “Dangerous and Sweet” by Lenka “Hey. You love me, right?” Felix asks him, probably because he was in front of an audience. It’s a scene played out too many times. Felix looks up at Zander expectantly. Zander wasn’t sure why he tried anymore. Every word Zander says cuts like a knife. Yet he always asks over and over again. Zander looked at Felix and almost smiled. His heart must like to bleed. You’d think he’d learn.
“******** off Felix.”
Felix only glares at him and lets go of his arm. It stings. It stings deep and Zander knew that. Zander likes Felix's pain, though he’d never admit it. He knows that it was a feeling that was dangerous. Such a sensitive boy. It makes him feel dangerous.
He soft strokes Felix’s hand, quickly and away from anyone's line of sight.
But it also makes him feel sweet.
o2. “Thriller” by Michael Jackson It was not Felix’s idea. Not at all. In fact, he tried to convince Zander to go somewhere else on a date. But Zander needed his hit. He needed to see the blood. He needed to feel the thrill of fighting for one’s life. He needed to see the darkness consume and the monsters take over. It made him feel high and in control. It made him smile.
Felix grabbed Zander’s hand, trying to pull the young man to his sense. But Zander couldn’t quit. His heart was beating quick, lost somewhere between love and adrenaline. There was a shrill scream. There was a splatter of blood. Felix wanted protection. But there was nothing to save him. Not now. He never understood the draw that Zander had, like a moth to the flame. It only brought Felix disgust and fear.
Yes. Felix really hated horror movies.
o3. “Over my Head” by Lit The sun was flooding in through Zander’s bedroom window. He rolled over on the mattress sitting on his bedroom floor. He wanted to avoid the prospect of waking up to face another day. The world abused him. Why couldn’t he just stay away for now? They never gave him s**t. Why should he give them the time of day?
His head pounded and filled him with the kind of sickness that he realized only a man with a hangover man could have. No telling what had happened. He had just been angry the night before. He had just followed Felix to the bar with the idiot Adam, just to drive the bastards home. And then…
He opened his eyes. Felix rolled over into his arms, still asleep and very much without a shirt on. Zander blinked three times, trying to make sure his blurred vision wasn’t deceiving him. He rolled around and something in the back of his mind just told him that he was way in over his head. o4. "Shut up (and sleep with me)" by Sin with Sebastian If there was one thing Zander could honestly say he hated about Felix, I mean honestly and truly hated, was Felix’s ability to talk. Zander wasn’t much of a chatterbox. But that didn’t mean that it made him a good listener. And when given the chance, Felix could easily talk someone’s ear off. He irritated Zander to no end. It itched at him to the point of doing something drastic.
It didn’t help that Felix was wearing those jeans that Zander really liked. And the shirt without the sleeves. And that each movement the young man made seemed to be in slow motion. Zander was watching. Carefully watching as Felix went on and on about how annoying the popular kids were at there school. As if Zander didn’t know. “Felix?” he finally asked.
“Hm?” Felix asked, not even noticing the lack of space between the two boys. Zander grabbed his shoulders and planted his lips onto Felix’s, moving into a deep and honest kiss, filled with frustration and a strange sort of passion.
Zander pulled off for only a minute to look at Felix and say, “Do you ever shut up?"
o5. "Voodoo Child" by Rogue Traders
Felix had his own mind and his own free will. In fact, some would say he was strong. They would say that he was free-minded and had a will of iron. When he fussed, when he said no, he meant it.
What did they know? They didn’t know him as well as Zander.
Zander would string him like a puppet and pull him gently. He would twist his head, hold his heart, and cast him under his spell. Felix hated it, but he had a hard time saying no. Zander was the b*****d extordinaire: the king of douchery. Yet no matter how hard he tried to twist his strings free, he’d still be there, next to Zander like some mindless servant.
Screw being a doll, he’d say. ******** it all. He could free, just like everyone thought of him. But then Zander would stare him down and he’d be back. He just took hold.
