And the spotlights went dim,
He'd spent eternity grinning,
Just putting on the face,
For all the masses to see.
These reinforced steel walls,
That have protected me so long,
Melt away completely under your gaze,
You read right through me.
This feeling has left me bare,
Vulnerable and raw in emotion,
But i'll bear this cross with a grin,
Because i can still see your smile.
I can still feel the poison,
Of a thousand needful touches,

And end each syllable with a shake.
I can still hear your voice,

And i can still taste your lips,
I just can't clean you off me.
Your innocent caring,
And thoughtless wonders,
Have left a mark within me,
Your face is burned inside my eyelids.
So when you see the searing pain,
Etched on my features,
Everytime our glances cross,
