Years ago, a twisted man started the demon trafficking business of the human black market. He called for the creation of a small portal between the human and demon worlds, where unknowing demons would be able to pass through, thinking that they would be able to wreak havoc against humans.
But waiting on the other side of the portal was a trap. The humans captured the demons as they came in, and often sold them off for a fortune.
Azure's deepest origins-- such as his family, aside from his twin brother-- are unknown. The earliest information about him says that he got involved in the black market as he tried to save his twin Acario, whom had naively gone through the portal despite his brother's protest. They were both 16.
They ended up being pulled through, and were made into simple bodyguards. As time went on, Acario started to rebel against his captors, particularly his boss Durante. He used Acario's (brotherly) dedication to Azure for his advantage.
He called for a complex procedure on Azure that would turn him into something of a robot. Implanting strange chips into his body, Durante took Azure completely under his control. From his behaviour to his blinking patterns, Durante could control everything Azure did. He told Acario that if he ever rebelled again, he would put Azure into a self-destruct. The cone-shaped ears built into his head serve as a satellite; he can send and receive messages from and to his bosses through them.
One day, another male demon came in seeking help from Durante. He had escaped into the human world and had his first exposure to the human scent. He'd killed the human that he came close enough to to smell, and was overcome with guilt. He wanted Durante to perform his own unique surgery; to remove and manipulate demonic DNA and bring it as close to humanity as possible.
While Durante was performing the surgery, Acario wandered off. Outraged by what Durante had done to his brother, he decided to get payback while both Azure and Durante were occupied. He cut off the source of electricity for the surgery, and Azure was used as the new power source. The event made Durante realize just how useful Azure was, and Azure became his most prized bodyguard.
After he became a "robot", Azure essentially lost all sense of his own control and personality. He does what Durante-- able to track and control him from afar-- programs him to do and acts how he tells him to act. His dominant command is to be calm and charming to avoid unnecessary fights, but he can easily be shifted into any kind of behaviour. The only thing that he almost always retains is a soft, oblivious smile, even when he attacks.
Over the years, even his appearance started to change. He lost his flaws, eventually becoming almost doll-like. That's really what he might as well be; a doll, only able to do what his controller makes him do.
Also like a doll, he's fragile. Extremely vulnerable to water since he now conducts strong electric charges, he avoids getting wet at all costs. Durante isn't quite sure what would happen if Azure got wet, but he suspects that his "program" would be destroyed and he would get his free will back. Little known to both Durante and Azure, they'd be lucky if the program was all they lost.
