Okay, so in my basement we have two rooms. One room is where my huuuuge yellow lab resides. The other is where my very jumpy black cat who was sentenced down in the playroom because she can't controll her bladder on the upper levels of my lovely home.
So anyway. Snowball (my lovely black cat) had only gone to the other side of the basement once and she'd checked out the gigantical heater-thing in the corner. But Shooter (my lovely dog) had been in the backyard doing something or another so she hadn't seen him. But this time, the met.
Okay, when I'd been on a trip to Branson, Missouri I was watching some weird show on dogs. The poor dog was so mistreated and it went to a home where there were cats. So they had to make sure she was friendly with cats. They said that most of the time people who shove each other in their noses they're on instinct gonna wanna get the heck away. But if they're on their own little terms it'll turn out a lot better.
So here I was. Just trying to reach my strawberry ice cream and Snowball creeps in and promptly goes to explore the heater thing. Shooter is instantly interested. He was kinda excited to see what the heck this strange little black creature was. But eventually I coaxed Snowball out of the heater/big metal thing and opened the door out just to let her know she didn't have to stick around if she got scared.
And I'm not saying Shooter isn't an awesome dog or anything, but he doesn't stay still very well. But oh my cheezits, he sat as still as a statue. He didn't look at me, just one-on-one-ing with Snow. I'd never seen him do that before. It blew me away.
Snowball was kinda scared. But it amazed me that they had that little moment. Snowball wasn't hissing or trying to scratch him. I was standing in my little daze to the side, close enough not to be a distraction but good enough if the things got bad i could intervene. But it didn't.
Still afraid Snowball scurried out the door. It may not sound like much, but it is to me. SO ya. =P
