Madeline walked down the street. All was silent... there was no traffic left. The only lights on were the streetlights lining the sidewalk, tossing her shadow and stretching it out. The shadow reflected Madeline's profile... short black hair with long strands in the front, not very tall, and thin but not too skinny. She enjoyed watching it do this... shadows amused her easily. Lady Madeline, came a whisper from behind her. She turned, but the only thing behind her... was her shadow. "Yes, Charlotte?" The shadow moved without Madeline moving her. Since you are indeed throwing me this way and that, I could not help but notice, someone has been following you for some time now. Madeline frowned. "Really." Yes... I cannot tell who. Madeline shoved her hands into her pockets and squinted in the dark, trying to spot her follower. "I don't need this right now... I have to complete that task I've been set out to do. I don't exactly have time to spare. His love grows with every passing day, and the more it grows, the more difficult it is to get RID of it." Yes, it is important that you move more quickly, but... "I don't feel a presence. Are you positive, Charlotte?" "She was just looking the wrong way," a voice whispered from behind Madeline. Madeline chuckled. "Catya... don't sneak up on me." A small girl jumped out from behind Madeline. She wore all white, including her cat ears and tail. Her white hair had short bangs on the left side of her face, but the right side was covered up. She waved cheerfully. "Hiya, Maddy!" "What do you want, Catya?" "I was just taking a walk." "You're an angel... they don't take walks at midnight." Her left eye glowed. The right eye probably glowed too, but it was covered up, so no one could really tell. "But I'm a cat, too. Cats take walks at midnight." "You're only a fifth of a cat," Madeline pointed out. "That's enough so I can only take cat-naps, so it was this or watching someone ELSE sleep," Catya retorted. Enough of the act, Catya. What are you doing?" Catya tucked the left side of her hair behind her ear. "Can't get past you, can I?" "Never could," Madeline replied. "Very well... I wanted to talk to you." "Good, now you have, and now I am done talking to you." Madeline walked right past Catya. "Come on, Charlotte." Her shadow followed her, dancing about as she'll often do. She walked at a different pace than Madeline's but you could only tell if you studied her very closely. Catya watched her go. Well, at least she believed me that time. She giggled. It's a bit sad that she still doesn't know... that I'm not entirely an angel. Catya pushed back the hair on the right side of her face, showing a demonic mark crossing across her eyelids like a tattoo. She still doesn't know that I'm a part demon... well, at least I passed it a secret for another day. Wings sprouted out of her back. They were white and feathery like angel wings if you didn't look to closely, but if you really saw them, the "feathers" were actually made of thin, sharp blades. She flew off across the sky, blotting out a couple of stars with her shadow as she passed them. She laughed as she saw Madeline walking beneath her. She has no idea... this could work out even better than I had planned.
