Edward hustled down the streets, not caring to avoid the strangers passing him by. Many let out small curses, while others simply thought them, as his shoulder slammed into their's.
His amber eyes narrowed in anger and his breath was let out in little huffs that screamd "pout". Heshoved his hands deep in his coat pockets an stopped to lean against a smooth brick wall. No one cared to look at him. That's not how it worked in a big city. To anyone else, no one existed but them. He slowly slid dow the wall, his shirt hiking up a bit in the back, sending a jolt of cold up his back as he had touched the bare stone.
It was strange weather for this time of year. Normally it was rather comfortable, and perfect for taking walks. Now it was bitter and brisk, the clouds glooming overhead thin with fine mist. He stared into the sky looking for some answer to the question ringing inside his head.
Why on Earth dose Thomas have to be so bloody stupid!? he screamed inside his skull.
Edward grabbed tufts of hair on each side of his head, gripping them in frustration. He brought his knees closer to his chest and burried his watery eyes in them.
((Flashback.Haha)) Earlier this morning, Edward sat up in bed and smiled down upon his lover. He quietly got out from under thecovers and snuck out of the room. He spent, three hours in the kitchen preparing a small feast for breakfast in celebration of his turning. It was an annual thing for him to celebrate it. Though Thomas certainly thought it was silly, and Edward knew it, he never mentioned anything about it. He normally just went along with it, and Edward was fine with that.
As he finished pulling toast from the oven, Edward heard the clumping sound of Thomas descending the staircase. He quickly placed the toast with the rest of the food and stood before it proudly.
"Good morning Thomas!" he had called only to be returned with a roll of Thomas' eyes. He coldly refused to celebrate Edwards turning this year, claiming it was rediculous. Thomas had gone on describing how Vampirism was a curse and certainly not something to have a party over.
Thomas' words had struck Edward rather hard, and threw him into a wave of hurt. And so we arrive to his current situation Edwards eyebrow twitched as a sudden sentence interrupted his own thoughts. He briefly looked up, trying to match a face with the voice he had heard, only being able to pick out a man with exceptionally green eyes. Out of the corner of his eye, he caught Ryu giving him a slight wave. With a tentative lift of his hand he returned the gesture and buried his head back into his knees. He didn't want many people to see he was crying.
With a slight shift of his head, Edward caught sight of the green eyed man again. He noted his long fingers, assuming he played an instrument. Maybe a violin, or a guitar. That'd certainly make conversation with him easy though Edward was certainly not up for introductions at the moment.
Edward stood up, sliding up the wall this time. He brushed his tears away with the fur on his coat sleeve and smiled at the man who he assumed "had never seen a man with horns."
With an akward redirection of his eyes, he looked away from the man and started on his way to his favorite diner. He was itching for his favorite tea. He needed it to calm his nerves a bit. As he started towards the diner, he realized the green eyed man was right in his pathway, forcing Edward topass him.
Hopefully he dosen't make this akward with his thoughts... he pleaded silently.
Thomas paced the house, frowning deeply. He had not meant to upset Edward, he was only aiming to rid Edward of this silly tradition of his. Thomas viewed the Turning almost like a slave contract. He hated the idea of it and deemed it a curse. It normally made him feel strange to celebrate something he saw as such a grim idea.
Maybe I was a little harsh on him....I should have just played along like every year... he thought, questioning his actions.
He chuckled a little. Edward was the only one who did that to him. Thomas was one who made a decision and stayed with it to the end. No doubts, no regrets. Only Edward could confuse his own feelings. With a sigh os slight frustration at his self, Thomas threw a coat over his shoulders and rushed out the door.
It had been a good 20 minutes since Edward had stormed out of the house which meant he could be anywhere. Thomas looked in every direction a hint of dismay overtaking him. Deciding the best place to start was in town, Thomas headed off.
He Tucked his head down, bracing himself against the chilled gusts of air. With his hands shoved in his pockets, he glared at the ground as it passed beneath his feet.
He can be so emotional.... Thomas thought, immediately removing that from his head. This was an apologetic trip. Not one to fume on. He lifted his head, making eye contact with everyone he met. This was his way of saying "I'm in charge, don't get in my way."
Thomas had entered town after walking for about 10 minutes, and stopped to gather his bearings. Immediately he spotted Edwards favorite diner.
Of course he would go there. Ryu works there, one of his best friends among the half-demon community. He'll surely stop to make me look bad. Thomas thought with a loving smile on his face. He loved how predictable Edward was. It made life so much easier t alone at a booth near the kitchen. The normal spot he sits in when he wants to speak with Ryu. He rested his elbows upon the table and leaned his head into his hands. his shifted his head, placing his chin in his palms and settled with watching the people eat. It was almost grotesque how some of the slobs in this resturante tuffed their face with fried foods and soft drinks. Edward preferred healthy foods, such as whole wheat and salads.
Edward often enjoyed human food over an animal's blood, because he liked to stick to his own traditions before Thomas had turned him. Some foods, though, tasted like dirt to him, such as Hamburgers or anything fried. That's why he stayed with healthy foods. That was really the only human food he could taste.
As he watched the humans eat, Edward caught sight of the green eyed man once again. He had entered the resturante about two minutes after Edward.
What a strange man.... Edward thought, feeling those green eyes upon his horns. As he discretely watched the green eyed man enter his heart, metaphorically at least, skipped a beat. He had caught sight of Thomas heading towards the diner. Quickly he sank back into his emotional shell, and sulked in his seat. Waiting for Thomas to enter so he could show him how angry he was.
You're so childish... was the only thought that came to mind.
He ignored Ryu as she hustled by him to her next table which so happened to be The Green Eyed Man, refusing to lose his concentration on his rotten mood. He wanted to look as upset as possible for ThomasEdward let slip a look of aggitation as the Green Eyed Man's thoughts pierced his own once again. He needed to concentrate, and he certainly wasn't helping. Edward allowed himself to steal a glance out the window of the diner, to see the Thomas was drawing closer.
Of course he knew I'd come here. Damn...I should've know... he cursed himself mentally. Though deep down he knew he wanted Thomas to find him. Why else would he come here to get away from him. He compared the situation to a child covering his eyes in a game of hide and seek to hide himself from the seeker.
Edward dropped his head again, an crossed his arms, leaning all the way back into soft cushion of the booth.
Thomas stepped into the diner immediately spotting Edward. He smiled softly in his direction, realizing how silly Edward looked, pouting like he was. Thomas glared at the bells over his head that jingled, announcing his entrance. He had always detested thosethings. It was highly unneeded, and a bit embarrassing seeing as everyone's eyes fell to him upon opening the door.
Thomas confidently made his way to Edwards table and sat down across from him, taking his hand in both of his. He smiled at Edward waiting for him to look up at him.
Edward remained silent and continued to stare at the table, even as he felt Thomas' cool hands enclose around his. With a bit of regret he removed them gently and put his hands in his lap. He looked up at Thomas his eyes starting to water again for no reason.
"Why do you hate the things I do?" he asked bluntl, a single tear running down his cheek. He wiped it away quickly, grunting with frustration. He returned his attention to Thomas looking him straight in the eye.
Thomas frowned at Edward, a bit insulted he would assume such a thing.
"Edward, love, I don't hate the things you do. It's just the crazy things such as your silly ceremony that I don't agree with all the time." he replied as sincerely as possible.
He immediately knew he had said the wrong thing.
"Crazy things!?" Edward exclaimed. "Thomas that crazy ceremony isn't just about my turning. Don't you realize that's the day I vowed my love to you!? Is that so silly I can't celebrate it? Is that so crazy to you, you think we should forget about it?" he cried, standing up in his seat. He slammed his hands on the table, the tears running at full speed now.
With a small glance at the Green Eyed Man, a quick idea struck him.
"Well ya know. Since I'm so crazy, I guess you shouldn't be seen with me." he said, acid rising in his tone. He quickly stormed off towards the piano and sat down next to The Green Eyed Man. He listened to his tune for a couple minutes before lacing his own melody with the Green Eyed Man's. Their tunes rang together in perfect harmony as Edwards fingers glided over the higher keys, being careful not to get in the way of the other player's.
"High I'm Edward." he said rather bluntly while continuing the music.
Jealousy was Thomas' weakness. What better way to make him suffer than to speak with another man in his presence? Edward reguarded Ryu, while he played realizing she knew the Green Eyed Man somehow. He smiled at her sloemnly and continued to play around with the melody of the other man's song. Edward's hand absent mindedly went to the back of his head where Ryu had slapped him. His eyes were a bit wide with shock as he watched her storm out of the room. Had he interrupted something? Was she involved with the Green Eyed Man?
"I'm- I'm sorry." he stuttered returning his attention to the Green Eyed Man.
"I-I didn't mean to interrupt..." he continued, quickly getting up from the piano seat. He returned to his original seat across from Thomas and looked into his eyes finding the anger he had encouraged. He smiled innocently cocking his head attempting to look cute.
Thomas' tempered had flared. Edward had gone too far. Thomas glared at Edward and awaited his explanation silently.
When Edward's explanation didn't arise immediately, he broke the silence.
"Edward Twosend. The one I love with all my heart. Why would you do that? Why would you create a scene like that, and involve other people? Do you realize how embarrassing that was? Do you realize how infuriating that was?" he said. His voice was monotone, the sign of his anger.
"I understand you're hurt, and that you're angry at me. But hat's no reason to involve other's.
A lone and silent figure apeared at the magnificant gates of Seramona dressed in fine clothing. It was a lady, around the age of sixteen, garbed in a blue satin coat that treaded to her feet and a white ruffled shirt that you usually see in the eighteenth century. The heels of her fine black boots clicked and tapped on the road as she entered, some faces of demons and humans, looking at her in pure curiosity, and then noticing who she was, bowing their heads. She looked towards them, deep piercing pine green eyes, looking at them and then gave them a small nod of the head, her long, almost white, blonde hair flowing with her graceful movements. She walked down the road, aligned by street lamps and turned down an empty drive. Two large lion statues on either side glared down at her as though they would suddenly come to life and attack. She smiled at the statues for a moment, and then continued down the long drive. Small bushes and dead rose gardens sat on either side of the brick pathed road. "...I'm going to have to talk to my butler about hiring a gardener..." the lady joked. The lady's name was Asoka, of the Asmere family. She had been living here for quite some time now, and had earned the respect of every race in Seramona. She was the only heir to the family, her little sister, Esther, had been somewhere else. To that, she did not know. She walked up to a single large three story mansion shrouded by weeping willows and twisting trees and opened the door to her home. Of course, Asoka owned the second largest mansion in Seramona, the largest, she had given to be used freely to any one who might want to make quarters there. Being human, she was happy that so many people would use it. She closed the door behind her and looked to the common room, a nice and comfortable room acompanied by a large black leather couch and a black baby grand piano sitting near an open window near a dirty fireplace. "Ahh... Home." she grinned, and then sat on the couch, crossing her legs. "I wonder when everyone will notice that I am back...." she spoke to herself. She yawned and stretched back, leaning her head on the creamy white walls that still smelled of fresh paint. The chandaleers aluminating overhead were covered in dust. "I'll clean that later..." she mumbled shitfing herself over so that she could lay on the couch. Asoka stood up from her couch, and walked over to the doorframe near the hallway. With one large breath, she quickly yelled, "Solom! Marnia! Leslie! Joseph! I'm home!" The hallway was quiet for a moment, and then came the hurried running of two ladies and two men, all well dressed. Solom and Leslie were apparent twins, their golden blonde hair and brown eyes both beautiful. Marnia and Joseph were vampires. Their pale almost white skin and crimson eyes with elegant features were enough to make any human beauty queen look no more than a plain girl. They quickly trampled over to her with their eyes wide open with tears. "Lady Asmere! We have missed you so!" yelled Solom, embracing her as though she were a lost toy now found. "Where have you been?" asked Marnia, giving her one of her famous bear hugs. Asoka smiled, her eyes grew to a softer green. "I have been in the mountains... I'm fairly sorry that I worried you all.." "Yes yes. Oh, my lady Asoka. How have you been?" asked a man dressed in the same clothing as Asoka, except the coat, which was jet black. His dark curly red hair and albino skin were beautiful, though it looked as though someone had tried to break his nose, purple circles under each eye. Asoka turned towards him slowly, her cheer turning into a very serious look. "Yes... It is nice to meet you again Carlisle. I've been fine. You?" she asked smugly. Carlisle gave her a quick smirk and then returned with a hard glance. "I've been well.... I bet you are tired my lady.." he grinned, walking towards her. Carlisle was a vampire. Quite an odd one at that. He thirsted for her blood more than anyone else in Seramona, yet she allowed him to take home here. She loved his challenge to have her at the throat, and grinned, taunting him. "I am hungry... I suppose I will go out into the town. I feel like... Some fried foods." Asoka spoke, turning towards the door, knowing that Carlisle would volunteer to chaperone her there. Carlisle smiled. "And of course I will come with you." Asoka glanced in his direction, then headed for the door. "Then I suggest you move along. I'm starving." she playfully added and then slipped out the door with him to go to find some confections or something else to eat... Asoka was excited to be back in her little town. She walked down the streets with Carlisle by her side, the eyes of many civilians and passer-by's glancing at her, and then whispering into the ear of another. All in all, it took a good ten minutes to make it to Asoka's favorite Resturant. Carlisle walked up to the door first and put his hand on the silver plated handle before looking at Asoka. "I do believe that I shall hold the door for a lady such as yourslf..." he spoke smugly, pulling the stained glass door, it's oiled hinges gliding smoothly as her pulled on it. Asoka gave him a skeptical look, before returning his smug look. "Thank you Carlisle.." she murmured, walking into the resturant. A tall man dressed dully in a pair of slacks and a black t-shirt, tucked him stood at a short podium, leaning on it casually. He looked up to see Asoka staring down at him and jerked up. "Why- Allo' .. Mm... Sorry! M' Lady 'Soka!" he mumbled, his voice showing traces of an old british tongue. "Hello garret..." Asoka mumbled. "You've gotten 'lax haven't you..." she said, looking over his attire. He looked down. "Sorry Miss. Not many customers like there used to be... I kind'a maybe Forgot to clean myaself up..." he joked, running his hand this his messy blonde hair. "Welll I would like a table for two if you do not mind... And I have no reservations." Asoka said to the man. He quickkly nodded. "Follow me Miss." he then said, p-icking up a couple of menu's and heading over to a small booth where no one was sitting. He then left them there to sit and look at their menus. "Carlisle... How long have I been gone?" Asoka asked, looking over the menu deciding between the ravioli and ceasar salad. Carlisle looked up from his, already decided. "A lone month, how I say. I have not counted, but I think that it must have been that long.." Asoka looked around and then heaved a sigh. "You've been counting... Do not lie. You miss my presence around the manor...." she played. Carlisle smiled, his eyes not hungry, but cheerful. "Every day and night...Edward absentmindly touched the back of his head again as Ryu mentioned in her thoughts. He looked over Thomas' shoulder and gave her a faint smile acknowledging her request.
"She's sorry for hitting you....and I'm sorry for making such a scene. I'm just so angry with you...you stubborn jerk." he said, looking at Thomas and giving him a flirty slap on his shoulder.
....He didn't look amused.
Edward sank back into his chair and pouted like he had done before.
"Ya know, it's strange how things turned around so quickly....How'd I become the bad guy?" Edward asked, his face scrunching up in thought to the point his eyes nearly closed. With a little surprise, a small chuckle was heard escaping Thomas lips. Shyly, Edward glanced up to find the smile he fell in love with years ago.
"See, you can't stay mad at me!" Edward exclaimed, a huge smile stretching across his face. He leaned over the table and pecked Thomas on the lips, staying close to whisper,
"I guess you're forgiven....for now." Edward returned back to his seat with a small smile on his lips, feeling almost triumphant. Thomas smiled brightly at Edward once again taking his hands into his own. He stroked his thumb across Edwars skin, admiring the smoothness of it. Vampirism complimented Edward well. With a slow, gentle motion Thomas ran the back of his hand down Edward's cheek and pulled his eyes up to his.
"How would you like to celebrate today?" he asked with a loving smile and a small twinkle in his eyes.
"Your love is my most cherished possesion and it's worthy of celebration all year round."
Edward clapped his hands together once in triumph.
"Oh do you really mean it?" he asked as Thomas nodded. He slid from the booth as quickly as he could and threw himself onto Thomas' lap.
"Lets go somewhere today. Anywhere, lets get out of town for awhile, or just relax in the park. I just want to spend time with you today. No stress from the pack, just you and me." he said, his words almost jumblong together as they flew from his mouth. He looked Thomas in the eye with the innocence and excitement of a child.
Thomas smiled down at Edward planting a light kiss on his forehead, "Anything you wish dear, today is our day and we'll spend it as we see fit."
Edward, jumped off of Thomas' lap and rushed over to Ryu and...
What was his name...?
Evan. With a juberant hug and a small peck on Ryu's cheek he expressed his thanks.
"This is why you're my best friend hun, your blunt attitude is just what me and Thomas need sometimes. And thank you as well, Mr. Evan. You play beautifully." he said as politely as he could. He still felt a bit guilty about ruining his and Ryu's apparent date.
"Treat her well, or i'll have to murder you..." Edward said with a mock glare, immediately followed by a bright smile and a flash of his white fangs.
Thomas wrapped his arm around Edwards waist as he came to stand next to him. He had to show this other man Edward was his. He kissed Edwar on the cheek and smiled at Ryu.
"Thanks for smacking a little sense in me." he said, placing his hand on the back of his head.
"And you have a good day." he said not so politely to the man sitting across from Ryu. He pulled lightly on Edwards waist and led him out of the resturante.
I wonder what he has planned for us today.... was his only thought, sending out a small pang of nervoussness. Asoka set her menu down and looked at Carlisle who was glancing over a lady who seemed to sway aorund drunkilly. 'Irresponsible..." he mumbled with a dark chuckle. Asoka sighed, and watched him for a moment. "So what are you getting Carlisle?" she asked, placing her menu on his. Carlisle's attention turned towards her and he smirked. "I'm not really that hungry.. I'll just take a bottle of wine.." he spoke, watching as Asoka straightened out her coat, boredly. A small lady with a notepad and pen walked up to them and gave a small cursty. "Welcome. I'll be your waitress, Matilda." the young looking lady spoke. Clearly she was a demon. Her skin was slightly blued, and her eyes were a bright and shining red, with a hint of pink. Her hair, dark red, was pulled up into a hairbow. She looked at them for a moment. "So what will the couple have?" she asked, cheerfully. Asoka glared. "Please please. We are not a couple. And I will only have a mushroom ravioli. A glass of water with that." she said, sliding the menu's over to the girl. She reluctantly took them, and then glanced at Carlisle. "What will you have sir?" she said, scribbling something down on the notepad. Carlisle looked her over for a moment, and then grinned. "I'll have nothing, but your best wine.." he smiled, a set of perfectly angular teeth. They seemed to glow in the dimly lit resturant. He set his hands up on the table and leaned his chin on them, watching Asoka. "I'll have your order soon.." smiled the girl, looking proud of herself for not backing away at the sight of the two. They seemed to scare her a little. She then walked away timidly. "...So, my lady. How was your trip?" asked Carlisle casually. "So so.." replied Asoka, leaning back in the chair.
Asoka looked up at Carlisle as she took only a couple of bites before wiping her mouth and throwing down a twenty. Carlisle sat up in his chair immediatly, putting down his glass of wine. "I'm ready to go..." she mumbled, standing up from her chair. "Why is that?" asked Carlisle, casually, pushing up his chair against the table. "Some demons are getting a little too excited ..." She replied, starting to walk out of the resturant, and then she looked at Carlisle. He was at her side in a moment. "Well... Considering the lack of humans..." he smiled, touching her on her shoulder. She swept his hand away immediatly. "I am human Carlisle, and there is nothing I can do to bring up the population of humans here.. It's not like I am going to advertise so more humans can come to be treated as they are.." Asoka growled. Carlisle suppresed a chuckle. "..Well. They would not dare mess with you unless they want their heads severed.." he smiled, placing his hand lightly on her shoulder. About half an hour into his meandering, Komo took off his hood. He had actually begun to look at the faces surrounding him, and found that he was walking a land far different from his home. Horns. Floppy ears. Duck bills. All mounted on human heads! And some of these creatures seemed to lack human characteristics all-together! An orb of scales rolled down the sidewalk opposite him, blinking out gravel when the face had rolled up... scrawny looking birds with what seemed to be lightning for wings circled over his head.
He was not alone.
After another ten minutes with the hood down, Komo removed the cloak entirely, smirking as he tossed across an iron patio railing, and stolled on, hands wrapped behind his head. Something was fishy, that was for sure. The humans weren't attacking any of the demons or half-demons, after all. But this fish smelled like a fresh meal to Komo, just waiting to be devoured. Still, it struck him as odd...
"Oy, Waiter!"
Komo's head cocked and swiveled to look into the window of a small diner.
"Y-yes, sir, I'm on my way!"
As he watched, a small man carrying a round, black tray dashed up to a bulky, blue-furred wolf man. The wolf man snarled as the small man approached, and the small man trembled, dropping his tray twice before collecting himself.
"So, how long am I going to have to wait before I can get some service around here?"
Komo blinked and mumbled the word again, "Service..."
"Sir, I have other custome--" The wolf man suddenly stood and snapped his jaws, causing the small man to screech and drop his tray as he flopped onto his hide and scuttled backwards.
"Do I look like I have the patience for your meager worries?! Get me an herbal tea."
"Y-y-yes, si--"
"NOW!"
The small man crawled over to his tray, scooped it up, and stood into a jog, dashing out of sight of the window. Ruffles turned forward again and kept walking, hearing the wolf man snort and squish back into the tiny booth. He walked a few feet... then began to laugh. It began as a few short snorts, then rolled over into suppressed giggling, finally bursting free as a great, roaring howl of entertainment as his tail curled and whipped around gleefully.
So, that was this little place's secret! Humans were kept as SLAVES! It made much more sense, now! Since there were so many demons and half-demons around, they were able to overtake and suppress the indiginous population! Now, humans were getting right what they deserved!
Komo felt so giddy, he decided to try it out for himself. Turning into the very next promising eatery, he suddenly found himself surrounded by velvet and light violin music. Before him stood a lethargic man dressed quite sharply, in contrast to Komo's simple and damaged garbs, who blinked weakly at Komo. All at once, he stood up straight, flattened his hair, and cleared his throat.
"Oy, erm, 'ello! Welcome to--"
"Quiet!" Komo shouted, nearly bursting into giggles again, "Did I say you could talk?!"
"Why, um, no, I dun believe ya di--"
"Hey, shut it! Get me a Erm.. Ermal Tea? Eh, something like that! On the double!"
"Sir, I can' let ya in like tha--"
"NOW!"
Komo couldn't hold back the smirk on his face as Garret cocked a sweaty brow. This was awesome!!!
Komo's ear twitched and swivelled, following Asoka, followed by Komo's eyes, followed by the rest of him, followed by his firm finger, which found itself pressed firmly into her firm chest.
"I don't think you could touch a head on my hair, HUMAN," Komo preened, heady with excitement and confidence, charging right past his faux pas, "Besides, if you humans wanted to be treated all nice, maybe you shoulda thought of that before ya' went around killin' OUR kind off, huh?" He pulled his finger back. "So watch what you say and where you step." He grinned broadly and backed off, fingers flexing, itching for a taste of her fragile little face Asoka stare at the man who preened at her with shock, and then smiled. "Well that is a nice little greeting..." she mumured to herself, then she looked at the man, walking up to him with a sharp, piercing look in her eyes. "I do not know who the bloody hell you think you are..." she said, angrilly poking a finely pointed finger into the man's chest. "..but you best watch out where you are going. I do not care who the bloody hell you think you are, but I am not going to take any bloody ..." Carlisle cupped a long, pale hand around her mouth and pulled her away from the man. "Calm down..." he snapped at her, knowing that he would get a good smacking for even touching her later. "I am sorry to interrupt your little... Greetings..." Carlisle said, his hands cupped tightly around Asoka's mouth to keep further vulgary and slandering from being heard. "...But you best not treat M'lady in such a manner. That is quite rude, even to a human, her in particular..." She quickly elbowed him in the gut, trying to free herself, but he snared her around the waist. "Bloody creature. You should know better than to talk to me in such a manner.." she angrilly spat. "If you know what is good for you, you will turn around and walk the either way, before I release myself from him and do something very irrational..." Komo sighed. He had wanted a good fight. He really had. But all he could feel was pity for the girl. She was obviously driven insane by her servitude... there wasn't a drop of blood on Komo, and yet she insisted...
He shook his head and held out his hands. "Sorry for botherin' ya, ma'am. Shoulda known better then ta talk down to such a noble lady, an' all, I suppose..." His words carried no sincerity, but he no longer meant the harm. It had been fun at first, but this whole "slave" situation looked a little unfair. Komo prefered a fair one on one fight rather than to this whole "gang-threat" thing that seemed to be going on. You earned more respect if you fought alone rather than as a team, you see.
"If you'll excuse me, m'lady," Komo mumbled, tossing an understanding wink to Carlisle, "I've got to be away, and such..." He then circled around her quickly and slipped out the door, rubbing his forehead as he weaved down the walkway. Humans, as slaves... was that what he wanted? Komo's mind balanced uneasily on another tricky precipace, yet very near the one he constantly stumbled atop...
Well, what else is new, eh? Asoka was stunned, as she looked up at Carlisle, seeing that the man had given him some type of wink. "Did that man just... Wink at you? He must have thought I belonged to you or something! Get your bloody arms away from my waist now, or else.." she grimly spoke. Carlisle smiled. "I'm sorry your grace. You could never belong to anyone... You are the most free human in the city.. After all, it is your birthright... This town will belong to you one day after what your father left you in his will..." Asoka fell silent. "Please do not speak of him Carlisle.. It saddens my heart..." she mumbled starting to walk in the direction of Asmere Manor. "I apologize, Asoka..." he replied, following her silently. "I mean! Who does that .. Creature think he is telling me what not? I mean really..." she angrilly whined, as she stepped down the road. Thomas put his arm around Edwards should and pulled him in close to his side. It felt a bit strange dominating Edward in such an obvious manner but he had to show the personal connection betwen them, incase anyone decided they wanted his Edward. He pulled Edward out the door, and hugged him closer as the brisk air touched their skin.
With a loving smile he said, "Anywhere you wish to go love. I'll take you there."
"Let's just walk a bit. I like the weather today." With his arm wrapped around Thomas' waist, seeing as that was the only place he could reach, they walked on watching the poeple stroll by them and laughing at their strange conversations.
One in particular had caught thier interest. A foolish demon had chose to start an argument with the Mistress Asoka. Edward slowed to a halt stopping Thomas beside him and watched from outside the door as the demon poked mistress Asoka bluntly on her chest and began talking down to her as if she were a....well a slave. Edward let out a little chuckle as Asoka returned her comments in a rather vulgar manner and was a bit surprised to see her current escort cover her mouth and restrain her.
Someone touching Lady Asoka was not something you saw everyday. Everyone knew she preferred her personal space, to the point you could get torn to shreds by whichever escort she had with her if you even brushed up against her arm. This always garunteed a wide space for walking while she prowled the streets.
Edward stepped back and pulled Thomas with him as the demon stepped out looking confident as ever. This one wasn't going to last long here. He thought about warning the demon about Lady Asoka but ultimately decided to let things play out for the little furry demon. Edward blatantly stared at the demon as he passed letting a little hint of "You'd better be careful." into his eyes. Hopefully the demon was keen enough to catch it.
"Let's go hun, we don't want to get caught up in anything." Edward suddenly suggested.
Thomas complied, and led Edward away from the resturante. He gave the foolish demon a small glance as he passed and shook his head knowingly.
"That boy will die within a couple of days." he said rather bluntly.
Thomas looked down at Edward as the sting of a slap made it's appearence on his arm.
"What was that for!?" he asked scrunching up his eyebrows in a bit of confusion.
"That's a horrible thing to say Thomas, whether it be true or not!" Edward scolded, giving Thomas the best look of disgust he could.
Thomas let out a small chuckle realizing Edward knew it was true.
The hypocrite... he thought amused. Thomas settled with walking silently along side of Edward, removing his arm from his shoulder and clasping his hand in his own
Asoka had clearly gotten over her ill mood after a few minutes of walking. She began to hum a little to Carlisle's amusement. He listened silently swaying his fingers along to the little melody she quietly made. After a while longer, her melodic humming stopped, and she turned her head in his direction, her eyes full of nothing, but thoughts. "Carlisle... Why is it that humans killed demons and vampires so long ago?" she asked curiously, eyeing him with her bright green eyes. Carlisle was suprised by this and thought about choosing his words carefully. He put his thumb to his mouth, chewing on it for a moment before looking back at her. "M'lady... Humans are of... A small and fragile race, as vampires and demons are not... Back then, when vampires began showing themselves to the human race, they were how you say, afraid of this new, stronger race and were afraid that they would begin taking over and killing the humans. Soon after demons then revealed themselves and so did many other races, the humans lost their nerve and decided to fight, and kill them. They were afraid, Asoka. Humankind is fragile and is losing it's population. Many have stuck to their own ways and tried to kill our kind, but they have always ended up six feet in the ground. Some have even mixed their blood with demons and vampires so they might be able to live with them in peace as one. Does that clearly explain?" Asoka had stopped walking. "That was a very long explanation... But I guess it answers my question..." she mumbled, clasping her hands together as they walked under a street light. Carlisle chuckled darkly. "Of course it is. It is how your father and mother died of course... Murdered in their own home by the vampire they soully tried to help..." he muttered too low for her to hear. Edward hung onto Thomas' arm and walked beside him, completely contant with the moment. Every now and then he would look up at his love and catch Thomas' cool eyes looking down at him, though often they'd quickly return to the road ahead. Edwards shoulder hunched and he shivered a bit as a cool gust ruffled the fur on his coat. Thomas immediately pulled him close.
Edward sighed a little.
"Ya know, I can fend for myself. You don't always have to be so protective. And don't think I haven't noticed the dominance thing you always do when you're jealous. You've been attached to me ever since I said hi to Evan back in the resturante."
Thomas' cheeks grew red, precisely what Edward didn't want to happen. It was the most adorable thing when his tough, calm, reserved Thomas showed his emotions, especially shyness. The little red tinge on his cheeks seemingly glowed in contrast to his pale skin.
Edward wrapped his arm around Thomas' waist and smiled up at him.
Why's he got to be so damn tall...
"It's alright honey. I don't mind a little dominance, there's just a time and a place for it..." he said with a hint of slyness behind his voice. Thomas' cheeks grew even redder. Edward let out a laugh that was possibly louder than neccesary. His pure white fangs glimmered in the sunlight as he rocked his head back.
"Let's go to the park..." Thomas said bluntly trying to hide his face.
Edward laughed again
Asoka slowly stopped where she stood, and Carlisle almost bumped into her. "M'lady! Oof. What is it?" Carlisle asked, backing off her quickly. Asoka smiled, and looked at him with a finger up to her mouth, chewing on it. "I do not wish to go back home, just yet, Carlisle. I wish to see my mother's park..." she said, thinking on the moment. Carlisle sighed and eyed her curisouly. "As you wish m'lady.." he smiled. She started in the direction of the park and walked gracefully, yet fairly fast in that direction. Carlisle easily followed behind. As she walked, something Carlisle did not notice hung from Asoka's belt. A silver and golden sheath aligned with blue and white saphire gems. He eyed it for a moment and thought about asking her about the beautiful looking holding place for maybe a finely made blade, but then bit his tongue. He would ask her later. As they entered the gates to the park, Asoka smiled. Still the large and beautiful garden she remembered. "It is more beautiful than even any other place on Earth..." she mumbled, looking around. There were alignments of cherry blossom trees, and roses of every color. Even the rarest, blue rose, sat in plentyful here. There were two ponds, connected together by a small stream with a small wooden bridge thet rose above it. There were tulips and ferns aligning the garden with benches and small green vines that grew in between the legs of them with little stepping stones covered over by little bits of moss and grass. Carlisle smiled, and flipped a strand of dark, curly red hair out of his pale face. Asoka looked at him for a moment and then went over to the pond, sitting down by it and looking in. "I love this place...." she whispered quietly to herself. Edward released himself from Thomas' arm and jolted for the gate of the park. This place was his favorite place in town. The beautiful flowers, and the ponds, perfect for a romantic day with Thomas. He turned around keeping his pace only walking backwards.
"Thomas!!! We should have brought stuff for a picnic!!!" he called as he smiled at him continuing to walk with backwards.
"Edward!!! Watch out!!" Thomas called though he knew he was too far away for him to hear.
"Wha-" Edward was interrupted by a sudden bench hitting the back of his knee caps and the suddens feel of cloth on his skin. He quickly realized he had fallen backwards onto a small bench near the pond. What was worse was that it was occupied by someone. And surprisingly worse than that, it was occupied by the infamous Lady Asoka.
Shock took control of Edward and he was rendered speechless and paralyzed.
"I-I'm s-s-" Edward stumbled, remaining in Lady Asoka's lap. He could see the shock and almost digust in her eyes as well. He knew he was in trouble. Her escort didn't look all to friendly.
Thomas rushed through the gate after Edward stopping short as he realized whos lap he had fallen into.
"Oh no..." was all he could muster before cautiously making his way towards them, his eyes constantly on Asoka's escort for any sign of danger. If that man made any move to harm Edward, Thomas would tear him to shreds Asoka was suprised to see someone just suddenly stumble into her lap and glare at them as if they were some evil creature she would kill in the moment. Carlisle crouched down, angrilly and was merely about to pounce at the other man watching him. Asoka looked at the fear in the man's eyes as he tried to apologize and she softened her gaze, her deep pine green eyes showing a hint of pity for the poor man. "Carlisle. Do not touch him. Stand down..." she murmured as she softly pushed the man off and stood up. Carlisle let out a little growl, showing his purely white fangs. "Stand down." she said, looking up at him and glaring. He stood up straight and quieted himself. Asoka looked down at the man, who was still on the ground and held out her hand in a gesture that would promote her helping him up. "It's okay. No blood no foul..." she chuckled. What is wrong with her... Usually she would attack... What happend to M'lady.... thought Carlisle with a frown, watching her closely. Edward glanced at the Lady Asoka's hand with a touch of confusion on his face.
I'm not in trouble...? No blood no foul...? Thank the gods she's in an oddly good mood today...
With a bit of hessitation Edward took the Lady's hand and accepted her help up. With a small bounce, he landed on his feet and brushed himself off. He smiled at the Lady akwardly and quickly stepped up next to Thomas. Edward could see the murder in his eyes, all directed to her escort.
Edward wrapped an arm around Thomas' waist and patted his chest.
"It's alright love. There's no trouble here. And that's how we'll leave it." he said in a soothing voice, working his unnatural charm on Thomas. He hated using his power on him, but if it would stop a fight then there was no question to it.
Edward exteneded a hand in a sudden surge of confidence and offered his name to Lady Asoka.
"Hi, I'm Edward. And This is Thomas. I must apologize, I was being silly and had no intention of sitting in your lap today Lady Asoka. It's good to see your...er...may I say, escort is as protective as mine." He said with a small smile.
He glanced up at Thomas who was still glaring at the rather large man beside Asoka. That man would have put up one heck of a fight by the looks of it. Edward squeezed Thomas' hip trying to calm him. It seemed his charm was having little if no effect on Thomas.
Curse his strong will... Was all Edward could think of as he resorted to more human ways of calming him, such as rubbing his back and clasping his hand. All while trying to look natural. Edward stood there a bit akwardly, wondering if the Lady would even take the time to answer him. Or if she would leave him to end the conversation by himself.
Asoka smiled and looked at Edward and Thomas. She lifted her hand to his and shook it lightly, and pulled it away softly. Carlisle was behind her in a moment, his hand pressing onto her shoulder. "It is okay. No one was harmed.. " she spoke, eyeing the both of them with nothing, but curiousity. "And it is nice to meet your acquantinces... And why yes, he may be a little over bearingly protective, but he knows I can fend for myself..." She chuckled for a moment in thought. Carlisle seemed confused by her tone and look, and moved his hand from her shoulder, to wrap it around her waist tightly, though he knew she hated that. "You're escort... Thomas, is it? He seems a bit tense..." he said smoothly, eyeing Thomas as though if he tried anything, he would immediatly be drug through the ground. "I would suggest you calm him soon, before his... Impulsiveness gets the best of him and he finds himself in a bit of a problem..." he chuckled. Asoka tried to free herself, and let out a disgruntled sigh of annoyance. "Carlisl-... Let... Me go.." she growled, angrilly. He did not obey. She sighed, a little embarassed, and smiled at Edward. "I must apologize... He is usually not like this..." she said quietly. "I'll calm down when I feel it's appropriate..." Thomas said rather shortly. Eyeing Carlisle, looking for any vantage point if it did happen to break out into an argument. He held Edward's shoulders tightly gripping him a bit harder than normal.
"Thomas....Love....You know you want to calm down. Right now." Edward growled digging his nails into his back, ashamedly piercing his shirt with all five fingers. He glared up at Thomas for a second than returned his attention to the Lady Asoka.
"What a strange coincidence. Thomas here is a lot like that as well, though he's often hanging on me unlike your Carlisle." he said acknowledging the man with a bit of respect and fear, with a simple nod. He flinched a bit as Thomas' grip on his shoulder tightened, though he tried his hardest not to show it. Of course, Thomas reacted immediately. Thomas noticed every one of Edward's movements, no matter how miniscule they may seem to anyone else.
Thomas immediately let go of Edward's shoulder and settled with stuffing his hands in his pockets. He closed his eyes and let out a small breath, letting down his defenses to Edward's charm. He knew immediately Edward would try to use it on him. He felt the small probing in his mind and the sudden rush of relaxation overtake his body.
"My apologies to you...er...Carlisle....my temper got the best of me." He leaned down and plucked Edward on the cheek and moved to sit on the bench Asoka had been sitting on when Edward had landed in her lap. He sat down and over looked the lake, keeping his senses about him, trying to monitor every movement Carlisle made.
Edward smiled as he felt his charm seep through Thomas' will. He had given up. Good. He tilted his cheek up to recieve the kiss and watched as he sat on the bench. With his attention turned back to Asoka he smiled warmly.
"See, he's gentle enough with the right persuasion." He looked awkwardly at the tears in the back of his shirt that showed just above the top of the bench. He had drawn blood...
Oops "Oh-oh! My apologies!" Edward gasped as he saw the nauseated look on Lady Asoka's face. He snatched a knapkin from his pocket that he had with him earlier this morning to dry his tears and rushed to the pond to dip it in the cool water. He hurried back to Thomas who had a rather smug grin on his face. Edward glared at him as he placed the cloth on Thomas' wounds. He dabbed away the pain mouthing a small sorry to Thomas. He replied with a nonchalant shrug.
Edward continued the dabbing, then dried off the area with another dry knapkin. It had stopped bleeding. Edward gave the Lady a quizzical look as he stood up straight again placing a hand on Thomas' shoulder.
"Your nose is rather sensitive Lady Asoka..." he commented leading into a question he didn't want to blurt out. Hopefully either one of them would catch the hint. Not many humans could have picked up on such a meager amount of blood. It had hit Edward like a brick wall when he noticed he had drew it. Though it wasn't an immediate reaction. Edward was slightly Jaded to the effects of Thomas' blood. Seeing as he had smelt it many times from their more violent arguments....or other activities best not mentioned for the sake of preserving our innocence
Asoka pulled the piece of cloth from her face and looked at Edward, one eyebrow raised. "Why, yes... I do seem to have a more sence of smell.. Just, please, keep that smell away. It is like being locked inside a small room with many dead bodies at once..." she muttered. Carlisle's hold around her waist ceased and he let her go, before stepping over to the lake, where he crouched down silently. Asoka smiled. At least he was content. He may be like that for hours on end. "It's really that... Well, I cannot explain, but it is in the family. We are most likely the weirdest family in the world... We continued to fight, and yet, one drop of blood smelled had us sickened. It was as though we were cripled by our scent, which no one can explain." she let out a chuckle. "Oh well. No need to go into any of that. I might bore you to death... So what brings you to Seramona..? "Well, actually Thomas and I just bought a house here and were planning our marriage. This place is rather beautiful and free of discrimination. See, it's a bit difficult to walk around old-fashioned London with sharp fangs, skin paler than the moon's light, and let alone, massive horns protruding from my forehead." He replied rather bluntly putting a finger to one of his horns as he mentioned them. He blushed a little as he realized how much he had said, and how casually it had come out. He had meant to keep a rather formal attitude with the Lady Asoka. He turned to Thomas for a bit of help.
Thomas' cheeks grew a bit red as Edward had mentioned their marriage plans even though it was a bit of a ruse. That was the story their clan leader had told them to go with seeing as he knew they were already in a relationship. Thomas and Edward were actually here as spys. A new clan had made an appearence in Seramona and the clan had voted to place Thomas and Edward here to keep an eye on them. It was Edward's idea to actually go through with the marriage, claiming it would solidify our story. He knew Edward was just ready to seal their relationship. Thomas thought it was just as silly as Edward's annual celebration of his turn- of his confession of his love to him, but din't put up an argument. If Edward thought a pontless human tradition was required to show they were to stay together forever, then that is what Edward would recieve. And besides, Edward was right. It would put some truth behind their story.
"He makes a point. They are rather ugly..." Thomas replied playfully, grabbing one of his horns and giving it a gentle shake. He was returned with a slap and a sour look from Edward. He smiled at Lady Asoka.
"And what other reason do we need to be here than to have a chance to glimpse at the famous Lady Asoka?" he replied laying the flattery on thick. He might as well make some powerful friends if Edward was going to trip over them.
Edward rolled his eyes and removed Thomas' hand from his horn.
"They're not that ugly..." he mumbled. Asoka let out a small chuckle. "Marriage plans? Hmm... There is a churchl not to far from this park. A walk down this path and a street over.. My friend Cilvia and her brother Joseph are both head of the sister's and the priest... They would be glad to meet the two of you.." Carlisle glanced up at her with a worried eye, and Asoka looked at him with a crooked smile. He sighed and returned staring out into the lake. With that she let out a small sigh. "He is so tense... It kills me to see him like that..." she muttered, clasping her hands behind her back Edward beamed at the sound of Joseph's name, exchanging a look with Thomas.
"Actually we met with Parson Joseph just last week. He was very polite, and more than willing to perform the ceremony. He helped us set up a date and everything. Though he was booked for at least a month. He says if there are any cancellations we'll be the first to know." Edward said putting his index finger on his lower lip as he attempted to continue the conversation. He had come to a dead end and could not think of anything else to add.
Thomas smiled down at Edward finding the fact he was trying so hard amusing.
"So, If the rumors are correct you've just arrived back from a long trip. Correct? Where did you go if I may ask. And did you have a pleasant time?" he said with no thought.
Edward clapped his hands together in excitement.
Of course!!! Why didn't I think of that...? he thought cursing himself.
"Anywhere exotic? A woman with your stature should be able to go anywhere she pleases." Thomas said with the smallest bit of acidity behind his tone. He had meant to make it clear he did not approve of her...let alone her pet Carlisle, though he wasn't making it apparent enough for Edward to catch it. Afterall he was too innocent to see any harm in the statement.
Edward looked up at Thomas catching a strange....something...in his tone but quickly passed it off as his imagination.
"He makes a point I guess....though it's none of his buisness." was all he could say.. Asoka chuckled, her hand lightly pressing up against her lips. "I was just going a trip I suppose.. The people there were quite nice... Though I'm required to not give out it's location." she smiled. Carlisle stood, his head raised. He then turned towards the three of them, and edged himself towards Asoka. Once he was by her side, he stood straightly, seeming a bit unease. She eyed him curiously. What is wrong with him... she thought as her hand reflexsively moved over his, stroking it for a moment trying to give him some comfort Thomas chuckled at the obvious tense air about Asoka's poor Carisle. He flashed his fangs in a confident smile and stepper closer to Edward as Carisle came forward. He wasn't about to let him get any closer without Edward by his side. He put an arm around Edward's waist and pulled him in tight. He kept his composure, but flaunted his control over Edward very blatant.
Edward mouth fell open as he felt Thomas jerk him into his side. His eyes widened and he gave Thomas a death stare.
"Thomas.....let go of me dear." he growled a small tint of red on his cheeks as the embarassment of the situation came to mind. He glanced at the Lady Asoka and awkwardly struggled to break free from Thomas' hold on him. With a quick turn and a tight grip on Thomas' hand he spun from his side and turned back around to face him.
"What on Earth is your problem!?" he asked his voice raising a bit. He looked back to Lady Asoka and gave her an apologetic smile.
"I'm so sorry, he's normally not like this....lord I feel like I'm defending a dog.....you must excuse him, he's nervous about the wedding arrangements see." he said, throwing an excuse out at random. He smiled to himself for a split second, proud of the fluent fib.
"That's very impressive Lady Asoka" Thomas suddenly came out with. Visiting places that revolve around a secret location. Recieving an invitation to a town built on secrets. I hope that dosen't reflect on your personality." The slightly less than sly insults rolled off his tounge in a mock polite tone. He lifted his right hand to his eyes and pretended to dig at something under his index finger with his thumb. Completely content with paying more attention to that than to The Lady's reaction, let alone her lap dog Carisle.
Edward caught the tenacity behind Thomas' voice this time and could only glare at him. This was totally rude, and completely like him, despite what he had told the Lady Asoka. Edward knew Thomas' opinion on her high societal stature and knew that he would stick to it no matter what.
Edward sighed as all he could do from that point is observe the coming scene. The only thing he regretted was he may have to fight. No matter how obnoxious Thomas was being, Edward would defend him 'til death. One of many downfalls in their love.
He looked at Lady Asoka expressing a pleading look in his eye.
Don't let them fight....I'll keep mine at bay, please keep yours... He pushed the thoughts at Asoka through the look on his face and only hoped she would understand.
Asoka stare at Thomas in shock. No one had been so.. Arrogantly rude in front of her. Carlisle tensed, a small growl in the back of his throat. She grabbed his hand, her fingernails digging into his pale, white skin. He glared at her. Something was not right with him at the moment. Was.. He going to attack her? He wrenched his hand free from hers, and grabbed a hold of her wrist, squeazing tightly onto it. Anger and revulsion swept through his eyes. What the bloody has gone wrong with him... she thought as his grip tightened. She glare back at him for a moment, and then raised her other hand, gloved and long-fingered... And slapped him. Her hand whirled back to her side. "Get your bloody hand off of me Carlisle.." she growled. He blinked, his left cheek a violet color. He looked as though he had woken up from a dream. "Mmmm?... What'd ya do that for?" he asked, letting go of her wrist and placing his hand up to his cheek in anger. "Carlisle. I think it is about time, that you make your way home... I will be there later.." She said coldly, reflexing her arm. It felt as though the bones had cracked, but a little pain none the less. She had felt worse... Carlisle studied her, clearly confused, then saw the meaning in her eyes. "Yes.. M'lady.." he said quietly, backing away with a bow and gating away. Asoka then turned towards Edward. "I must apologize... He is very.. How you say..." she pondered for her next word. "Well.. He can be quite moody at times... Edward let out a long sigh of reliefe. He smiled thankfully at Asoka, not entirely sure that if what she had done had been genuine or for his sake. He grabbed Thomas' hand and squeezed it tighter than normal. He was obviously infuriated. He put on a smile that screamed anger and nodded to Asoka.
"We'd better be off. I've got some things I need to take care of." he said in a tone that seemed polite, but he knew Thomas realized the trouble he was in. Edward smiled once more and drug Thomas briskly away from The Lady. He wasn't bothering waiting for Asoka's answer, he needed to get Thomas away from her as quickly as possible.
Thomas rolled his eyes nonchalantly, expressing how little he cared for Asoka's feelings. Before Edward had a chance to drag him out of view, he had turned around and given her a cocky wave. He let Edward drag him through the park, watching the barrage of colorful flowers pass by in a bit of a blurr. Edward sure was in a rush...
"Oof!" He grunted as Edward came to an abupt stop. Thomas had run flat into Edward's back and surprisingly it felt like hitting a brick wall. Edward was pissed...
"Do you have any idea how embarrassing that was? You do realize who that was don't you? What she coulddo to you? What Carisle could have done to you? Why do you have to be such a hardheaded mule!?" Edward was reduced to a slight screech as the last words escaped his lips.
Edward placed his hands on his hips and huffed about the small grove he had stopped in. He watched the ground and silently waited for Thomas' excuse. He stopped his pacing and gave Thomas a vicious glare
Asoka watched as they departed, then looked towards the sky with a solemn look upon her face. "What the bloody hell was wrong with Carlisle.. Oh he will pay dearly for... Ugh.. That was embarassing..." she groaned, stepping towards the pond and bending down to see her reflection in the icey cool water. Such beautiful waters... Yet, her reflection, mostly which had changed were her eyes, had changed a little. Her once green eyes, deeper than the most lush of pine trees had changed into what the water had shown. The water's of this place always shown the true reflection of the person looking deeply into it. Her left eye, an icey sky blue, and her right eye, a bloody crimson red. She cringed at this sight. She had well knew it. It was just that no one else knew of this...
