After a long pause of silence, Jules spoke up. “Well, I guess I SHOULD thank you,” she said quietly, “you DID save me from becoming a pincushion…” The sides of the vampire’s mouth twitched as he tried to keep from smiling. “I guess it couldn’t be helped,” he replied, not looking at Jules, “humans ARE notoriously stupid.” “Oh, I’m sorry,” Jules snapped, ticked off, “I didn’t know that vampires were so high, mighty, and intelligent.” “Ugh. This is why I hate humans,” the vampire rolled his eyes in distaste.” “Well I guess we’re even then,” Jules almost snarled, “I’m not particularly fond of bloodsuckers.” The vampire’s eyes, which had faded back to dark brown, flickered light red. “Especially bloodsuckers that are full of themselves like you!” Jules jabbed her finger into the vampire’s chest before spinning around and marching up her walkway, slamming the door behind her. Storming up the stairs, Jules stepped into her room, rapping three times on an Arabic lamp on her way to her bed. “Wake up, Jasmine!” she called before flinging herself onto her bed, burying her face into her pillow. Purple smoke rolled out of the small opening of the lamp, spilling out onto the floor. Once the smoke cleared, a blonde-haired, blue-eyed girl stretched, yawning. “Home from school already, Julie?” she asked through her yawn, “How was your first day?” “Terrible,” Jules mumbled into her pillow. “Aw, sweetie!” Jasmine sat down on the edge of Jules’ bed, stroking her brown locks, “What happened?” “I don’t want to talk about it,” Jules grumbled. “Very well,” Jasmine sighed, standing up and straightening her baggy blue genie pants, “I’m going downstairs to fix dinner. You want anything?” Jules shook her head and Jasmine sighed again before walking out of the room. “Oh! Jasmine!” Jules jumped up and ran to her door, peeking out the doorway so she could see Jasmine in the middle of the stairs, “Could you not tell my mom I had a bad day? I don’t want her to worry…” Jasmine smiled and nodded, “Of course,” Jules gave her a small smile, “Thanks.” She turned around to go back into her room and let out a startled gasp. Phoenix sat cross-legged at the center of her bed, a look of amusement splayed across his face. “Phoenix?!?! What are you doing here?!?! No, HOW did you get in here?!?!” Phoenix smiled. “Hey there, Jules! I’m a ninja, remember? I just wanted to pop in and talk to you for a sec.”
