What i really don't understand... |

This isn't to bash people's beliefs. This isn't a call towards religion or anti-religion. This isn't even related to beliefs in general. What i want to know, exactly, is why people spend so much time on forums and blogs dissing religions, especially on a place like Gaia... Which, if anyone hasn't noticed, is a place for people to have fun and meet people, not have intense debates in which you yell at people just because you think their beliefs are stupid.
I'm Christian, and i'm proud to say it. What you believe only matters to me to the extent of me not offending you unintentionally (if you piss me off i might offend you intentionally if my poor brain can find a way how). stare
That being said... I constantly seem to find blogs, forum topics, and even youtube videos of people calling out Christians and other religions, saying that one MUST be stupid or ignorant just because of their beliefs. Were that the case, the USA would not exist. Yes, the landmass which we stand upon and yell at each other on would still exist... but the reason Pilgrims first left England was because they were being persecuted for their faith.
In addition to that... If ANYone has taken world history, you will find that the Crusades were to keep Muslims out of the Holy Land of Jerusalem. This is NOT flaming towards Muslims, but in saying this, the Crusades were formed so that Muslims would not stop christianity, and thus, would not lead to Pilgrims leaving England and starting the United States. The rest is history.
In fact, Muslims are actually to blame (in a good way) for many advances in science and medicine. They developed quarintine (sp?) and were able to develop a way to remove cataracts from the eye. Only a couple of examples, but there are more that i can't remember right now. laugh at my memory.
Anyway, as i said before, this isn't supposed to spark religious debate or going back and forth exchanging insults, points, and whatnot. All i'm saying is this (and i take this from a previous blog i had on my myspace a while back...)

Regardless of how atheists and non-Christians attack your faith, don't be discouraged, because if God really has changed your life, then what everyone else says doesn't matter- your faith is your faith, and their...whatever else it is is whatever else they have. And if they don't like what you have to say..... Respect that and leave them be. I'm done ranting
